Waning 21% crescent #moon and #Jupiter rising over dawn skies in Southeast England right now
Moon is a one-fifth crescent, pale and orange, with the shadowed part faintly visible. Jupiter is a bright star-like dot at 7 o’clock to the moon with about 3 moon lengths between them. Although the actual sky is a faint pink, the phone camera is rendering it grey.

I'm guessing I'm not the only academic spending their weekend frantically finalising teaching materials for next week (solidarity). As I plot out the assessment schedule using Excel, I am reminded of one of my favourite memes of all time... #AcademicSky
From AI: The famous internet meme is a chaotic Venn diagram featuring three overlapping circles: Incel, Microsoft Excel, and "me eating a fig."The Core JokeThe Intersection: The central punchline where all three circles overlap is incorrectly assuming something is a date.Excel constantly mistakes normal numbers, fractions, or codes (like 01-03 or gene identifiers) for calendar dates and auto-formats them.Incels (involuntary celibates) are stereotypically known for misinterpreting basic, polite friendliness from a woman or acquaintance as a romantic date."Me eating a fig" represents the literal mistake of mistaking a fig for a date (the dried fruit) at the market.Other Layered Jokes in the DiagramSheets that are never clean: Excel spreadsheets get messy with bad data, incels are stereotypically stereotyped as having poor hygiene/dirty bedsheets, and eating a fig can get messy.Dying gasp of wasps: Wild figs are pollinated by female wasps that occasionally get trapped and die inside the fruit, tying into the bizarre absurdism of the meme.

Longitudinal epigenetic rewiring in lung immune cells in patients with post COVID-19 condition — Nikesjö et al
"Distinct DNAm patterns were observed across pulmonary immune cell fractions, with longitudinal changes primarily detected in neutrophil- and macrophage-enriched populations, while alterations were not evident in PBMCs." "This divergence between lung and blood suggests tissue-specific epigenetic remodeling following SARS-CoV-2 infection and underscores the limitations of relying solely on peripheral blood to capture disease-relevant molecular changes in PCC."

How can a single antibiotic halt translation across all domains of life? 🧬 Our new study in Nucleic Acids Research reveals how Sparsomycin traps active ribosomes through a conserved mechanism. academic.oup.com/nar/article/... #Ribosome #Translation #StructuralBiology #Antibiotics #RNA #iTPseq
Graphical representation of the T. thermophilus 70S ribosome showing the 30S and 50S subunits, mRNA, and P-site tRNA. Sparsomycin (yellow) binds in the peptidyl transferase center at the interface between the A and P sites. The enlarged view shows sparsomycin occupying the A-site cleft adjacent to the P-site fMet-tRNA, closely contacting its 3′ CCA end (C74, C75 and A76) and the attached fMet.
