This postdoctoral research position is part of a Cystic Fibrosis Canada Early Career Investigator Award funded for 3-years led by Dr. Fabrice Jean-Pierre and Dr. Fiona Whelan. The aim of this project is to identify the genetic changes that arise in the Pseudomonas aeruginosa genome following perturbations – such as antibiotic treatment – in an in vitro system. The PDRA will use a large dataset of P. aeruginosa genomes and experimental metadata to predict key mutationsto the organism.

New preprint where @lbobay.bsky.social and I were motivated by the fact that non-synonymous substitutions are commonly analyzed in molecular evolution studies, but the similarity of the amino acids being substituted is an understudied area. doi.org/10.64898/202...

Anyone have thoughts on the "ordered quantile normalization"? www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.... It transforms data to normal distribution, and retains the order but not the scale of original data. Reasonable to use with models that assume normality, if you are interested in relative ranking?
