I will bang on about this forever, but Wales had a national election just 7 weeks earlier, with an electorate of 2.25 million. Campaigners were shattered; coffers were empty; and then we had to start all over again on the Brexit campaign. No bloody wonder we lost to Leave. Disgraceful scheduling.

Another of my Predictions To Be Reposted Endlessly If I'm Right But To Be Deleted If I'm Wrong. Farage will continue with Reform Party UK Limited on the business side, but will resign his seat and cease to be involved with the political side. He will cite threats to his safety as the reason.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist but living through the ordeal of 14yrs of Tory rule, and dealing with Starmer's utter betrayal of the UK, I don't have much faith in the new PM, be it Burnham or whoever. Unless they actually begin to undo the damage of Brexit, I won't be holding my breath.

I just read that Burnham's train was 22 minutes late into Euston. The first thing he needs to do to burnish his "man of the people" credentials is to submit a delay repay claim and get 25% of that fare back. Britain's taxpayers demand nothing less.

Makerfield could've gone worse, could've gone better. I'm still fairly convinced it was a vote for "Not Nigel", followed by a contingent of "Not Starmer" rather than a victory FOR anyone, and it's awful that second and third place were taken by various flavours of Nazi. No pats on the back yet.

I'm seeing claims that Makerfield shows that voters reject racism and division. I'm not sure that's a conclusion that follows from the results. The far right picked up 43.5% of the vote in Makerfield, on a 60% turnout. That doesn't sound like a resounding defeat to me. It's terrifying. #r4today

Two-tier policing is real and ever-present. Black and Brown people experience it. Women experience it. Pro-Palestine and green protesters experience it. But the last people who would ever experience it are right-wing white men. They are the people with whom the police instinctively align.
