I found some glossy photographic printer paper at work and decided to try it out and, well, damn. I don't like to really toot my own horn, but I'm so chuffed, I've never had full size (A4) prints of my stuff before and I'm so happy with how they look 😍
Picture shows five prints of Doctor Who digital edits.
Top, l-r: 13th Doctor blended with a cyberman. 13th Doctor and a wheel in space cyberman.
Bottom l-r: picture inspired by I, Davros, 1st and 13th Doctors in the tardis, 1st Doctor surrounded by Daleks.

Magical creatures don’t exist, eh? Roughly 400 million years ago, before the birth of trees, there were giant mystery cones called “Prototaxites,” which grew nearly 30 feet tall. We literally have no idea what they were. Plant: no Mushroom: no Animal: no Tell me this isn’t a little bit magic

Absolutely this. I have two careers, both decimated by AI and both filled with people saying "I know, but look: this can actually be helpful to those of us who know what we're doing". The people you're selling to don't want a middle man to "craft" a prompt for them.

I’ve seen the pitch document for The Day Today and it’s about a paragraph long. I paraphrase but: “This show worked brilliantly on the radio and we know what we’re doing.” A world in which that is a viable pitch document is something that we surrendered without a fight, which is so sad.

We visit Cygnus Alpha in #Blakes7 and we're so very nearly at the end of the extended pilot - by my count we've got Blake's 6 if you include Blake himself, which I'm not sure you should but how will we ever reach 7 if we don't? Toos and Ycranos run a hokey religion that needs followers.

This is true, if subscriptions to use microwave ovens were currently being given away for free to force vendor lock in with companies run by some of the worst people in the world. And cost so much to run it's hard to see where the profit will come from, but if there isn't one the economy goes ping!

Finished S2 of #BrokenVeil yesterday and am still a little shaken. It's a beautifully crafted modern folk horror - the kind of thing that would appeal to people who loved Small Prophets but wished it was a bit creepier. It's about borders and ambiguity, from the narrators being real people down.

The UK benefits system asks at every turn "How can we take this away from you?". Navigating that system effectively enough to live is one of the most taxing job s a human being can do, let alone to it fraudulently. Benefits are the ticket to an easy life for precisely no-one.

The fact that the 50th was, in my opinion, a masterpiece, even though it was written under the most trying of circumstance makes any flaws in Name and Time of the Doctor far more forgivable

It's my understanding that Moffat didn't even know if he had Eleven for Day of the Doctor, as his contract ended with Name. His back up plan was for Day to be Clara's search for the Doctor (she was the only one still under contract). IIRC, the last scene of Name was filmed alongside Day

We also never see how they get out again. The stakes are given that once Clara goes into the Doctor's timestream, she won't be able to leave, but the story doesn't show us how they get out and there's never a reference to it.

I sometimes wonder if it was some casualty of the 50th rewrites, maybe one of his original ideas, because really the set up for a 50th anniversary celebration is right there.

Very true- I like Moffat’s hyper compressed storytelling but Both Name and Time of the Doctor would have benefitted greatly from being far longer- a 2 parter in the former’s case, an entire season for the later

The way I look at it is: 10 ‘saves’ River because she matters in his future, but he has no real understanding as to how and why she matters. Once he as 11 has had some of that relationship and understands it, he knows the ‘save’ isn’t enough.

It feels like a criticism of female objectification but ends up feeling like its sexist as both times the gaze is from a male perspective. It’s a theme best examined by a female writer, in my opinion, and the reason I hope the next primary Dr Who writer is a woman

Or contrived: Davies runs into exactly the same problem with Ruby’s arc. Thematically it works: the arcs are about how the audience (represented by the Doctor and Sutekh respectively) invest the companion with such unnecessary importance that it literally distorts the world about them

I genuinely like Name of the Doctor and appreciate what Moffat is trying to do with the Impossible Girl story arc, but also recognise its inherent faults. The problem with having a character arc that ends with the revelation that they’re nothing special is it feels dramatically unsatisfying

OK, so the one nobody really remembers much about until someone who is very obviously John Hurt even from behind and at a distance turns around and is John Hurt is #DoctorWho - The Name of the Doctor, the lead in to the 50th anniversary celebrations. So, is it something to celebrate?
