@nextdoorsv.bsky.social this resolution from the League of California Cities had some great content around it.

Not that I've seen recently, but he did try to get the city to endorse the League of California Cities resolution to restore "local control" just a couple weeks ago.

This councilmember has said he would bankrupt the city for censuring him, calls Affordable housing "slums", rants about YIMBYs and the "Bike Lobby", had to recuse himself from a road project after secretly taking money from property owners opposing bikes lanes. Please don't let him win again.

Only one candidate for Emeryville City Council has not submitted required FPPC campaign finance disclosures and you'll never believe which one. Here's a hint, they were censured by city council 2 years ago in part for failing to file campaign finance docs. If you guessed CM Priforce, you win!

it is very cool (read: very not cool) that "What if the entire regional economy immediately exploded?" is a ballot measure in the bay area because we are in the 'touching the hot stove' era of american history. if you live in the bay area you should vote for the regional transit measure.
The ballot initiative would raise the sales tax rate by 0.5 percentage points in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Contra Costa and Alameda counties and by 1 percentage point in San Francisco, and is expected to generate roughly $980 million annually for the next 14 years to sustain bus, train, metro and ferry lines.

Many of the region’s transit agencies have already proposed contingency plans if the measure fails. BART said it would likely have to end service at 9 p.m. instead of at midnight, reduce train frequencies to 30 minutes and move from five-line to three-line service outside of peak commute hours. Caltrain has proposed eliminating weekend services, closing more than a third of stations and ending operations around 9 p.m. instead of 1 a.m. AC Transit is looking at reducing service by 16%, while Muni said it could eliminate up to 20 routes, cut service by at least 30% and end regular evening service.

The fiscal cliff facing transit agencies was triggered by the decline in ridership due to the pandemic and hit agencies heavily dependent on fare revenues, like BART, the hardest.SPUR, a nonprofit policy think tank sponsoring the measure, released a report last month that found that if the measure and San Francisco’s Proposition H fail, traffic delays on the Bay Bridge could increase by 33 minutes heading west in the morning and 43 minutes heading east in the evening. Caldecott Tunnel traffic could see delays of an additional 20 minutes in the morning and 27 minutes during the evening commute. Congestion could also worsen along Interstate 580, Interstate 680 and U.S. 101, the report found.

Rents for new leases of regulated 1-bed and studio apartments in Berkeley ticked down a bit in September '26, sequentially and annually, to a median $2098/month. That is the lowest of any September in a decade. Even in nominal dollars, that's lower than 2019.

This tragedy occurred on a street where the county recently completed a “pedestrian safety” project, but which local advocates pushed back against due to the lack of physical traffic calming & bike infrastructure. The warnings were ignored.

This building going up in San Jose is so funny. It's like if you stretched a standard 5 story apartment building up another 20 floors. As one commenter said, the final boss of massing breaks and facade articulation. sfyimby.com/2026/10/new-...

The backers of Prop 45 are counting on the public not being able to tell infill homes near transit from building new roads into wildland / fire areas for sprawl's sake. EB4E recommends a NO on 45 this fall. eastbayforeveryone.org/2026/03/05/s...

Emeryville also voted to oppose, but only by a slim 3-2 margin. Mayor Kaur and CM Priforce both wanted to support this anti-housing resolution. CM Priforce is up for reelection this year, this is the best chance we have of strengthening our pro-housing majority, electing David Mourra and @corry.us

In a demand cascade, adding high-end demand raises low-end rents. Rich people move into 3-bedroom homes -> middle-class downgrades to 2-bedrooms -> working-class pushed into 1-bedrooms More demand for the same supply = 1-bedroom rents go up. 2/
