Construction underway for new @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social Student Housing at corner of Bancroft and Fulton. Located across the street from campus, it will house over 1,600 students, freeing up multiple blocks of housing for the rest of the city, and saving students a lot of commute time. 🏗️🏘️🐻

Extremely weird biking next to an empty Bay Bridge. Was completely silent. Seems to have been shut for police activity, they announced they were looking for shell casings from a recent shooting.

Emeryville also voted to oppose, but only by a slim 3-2 margin. Mayor Kaur and CM Priforce both wanted to support this anti-housing resolution. CM Priforce is up for reelection this year, this is the best chance we have of strengthening our pro-housing majority, electing David Mourra and @corry.us

In a demand cascade, adding high-end demand raises low-end rents. Rich people move into 3-bedroom homes -> middle-class downgrades to 2-bedrooms -> working-class pushed into 1-bedrooms More demand for the same supply = 1-bedroom rents go up. 2/

I have no idea how to have this conversation within Jewish circles but the very obvious path we're on is that the ADL is devaluing the concept of antisemitism by making it synonymous with Ms Rachel and Macklemore, spending down the capital of American Jews in service of a genocidal apartheid state

Joel Young is blaming AC Transit’s declining bus reliability on Oakland installing bike lanes on some transit streets. Never mind that reliability is degrading across trunk routes - regardless whether bike lanes have been installed or not.

All I ask for is a single news source to be normal about TOD. All they focus on is loss of parking but not the hundreds of homes replacing it. I know it's just because it gets clicks but our standards should be a bit higher.

I love Berkeley, people will build their entire politics around the idea that mitigating climate change requires radically restructuring the world economy, but they draw the line at a 12 story building a few blocks away or replacing some parking spaces with bike lanes.

Opinion: Jane Kim’s California insurance plan is built on a myth
