shutting down frat houses won't end rape culture, but it will disorganize a lot of rapists, and i think that's probably worth doing if only to destabilize what is apparently an ecology of organizations that functionally exist to rape women per the whole "purpose of a system is what it does" insight.

Introducing Gurpo
A drawing of a small blobby figure inside of an enclosure with string coming off it, with text saying "introducing Gurpo, the new wearable personal assistant. Gurpo is not a computer program, he's a real tiny guy who is trapped inside your medallion necklace.
Gurpo hates you, but is incapable of doing anything about it, and he has to answer your questions or he gets electrocuted. It's non-lethal.
If you shake his enclosure hard enough, gurpo will throw up!"

I have literally seen dudes tailspin because of a super-casual "Pretty rapey/racist/weird/etc., dude." from a friend. Fuck some girl/brown person and their dumb opinions, they don't care about us. But they are 100% not prepared to hear it coming from you.

Every college in this country decided that expelling and/or sending the police to beat the shit out of their own students for the crime of being opposed to genocide was their top priority. That and giving Trump complete control of what they teach. Contrast that with how they treat rapists.

TRUE(?) STORY COMIX #3
PANEL 1: MATTIE, relaxing with a book, topless. She's reading a big book. A speech bubble floats in from offscreen.
MATTIE: A BEAUTIFUL DAY, TITS OUT AT THE GAY BEACH.
VO: HEY…

PANEL 2: MATTIE turns to look behind her. There is a seemingly cishet couple there, holding hands. They are both incredibly pale and wearing big hats and sunglasses. A Text box points to them.
TEXT BOX: THE BEST I CAN FIGURE, A CIS? HET? COUPLE?
CIS(?)GUY: DO YOU KNOW…WHAT HAPPENS HERE. AT NIGHT.

PANEL 3: Back on MATTIE. A text box points to her. The COUPLE is in the near foreground.
TEXT: KNOWS THE ANSWER IS "FUCKING AND SUCKING"
MATTIE: I AM NORMALLY ONLY HERE DURING THE DAY.
MAN(?): OH. OKAY.

PANEL 4 : MATTIE looks away. The COUPLE in the background are beamed up back to their spaceship.

I don't love dunking on folks but it's so fucking funny to me that Trump was convicted of 34 felonies 2 years ago, faced no punishment, and went on to win the presidency a second time and journalists are still like, "hmm, I have an inkling that maybe he believes he's above the law for some reason."
Post from NYT reporter Eric Lipton

"What an odd moment in United States history.

A U.S. president is running an overtly political campaign advertisement, right before midterm elections, paid for by the U.S. government.

Trump appears to believe he is immune from any kind of legal limit."

You know when public attention can reverse a prosecutorial decision like this you almost get the sense that the decision to shrug it off in the first place was not based on an assessment of the quality of the evidence so much as an assessment of the seriousness of the crime.

This is true. In 2016, I got into an argument with a gay man on a menswear forum. I've since made it my mission to make every man dress gay, thereby destroying his ability to tell who is actually gay and, ultimately, his chances of finding love. I built my social media following to achieve that goal
Someone on Twitter writes to me: "People should follow your advise if they want to look gay."

I find it fascinating that so many estranged parents view the estrangement as an incident, not as a process. So it's forums full of Boomers going "She stopped talking to me because I said her haircut was bad! She's so UNREASONABLE!", when, in reality, they've been shitting on their kid for decades.

3) the only logical argument here is if insurance companies are signing up fake customers and then taking the government subsidies for that coverage, while paying out no claims. IF that is happening, it would be business/corporate fraud, not consumer fraud.

2) insurance fraud, from a consumer point of view, consists of filing fake or excessive claims, not paying premiums and then making no claims. Where’s the payout?

A couple quick observations here, which should be obvious. 1) insurance “risk pools” work by requiring younger/healthier people who make few or no claims to sign up and pay premiums alongside older/less healthy people who do, essentially covering their costs.
