Finland has prepared the preiliminary proposal on the EU forest LULUCF level. based on latest modeling and data and accounting the lack of wood imports from Russia (~5 MtCO2) it is about zero. /1

US fossil CO2 emissions are on track to decline 1.8% in 2026, after rising 2.7% in 2025. Though, it is expected emissions will rise 0.5% in 2027. US emissions are really levelling out, after declining for more than a decade! More figures here: robbieandrew.github.io/USA/

We are all worked up about price of driving due to situation at Hormuz. Slowly the much more problematic price increase hits. natural gas is now double than before at +70 €/MWh. -> High heating bills in EU. -> High electricity prices +150 €/MWh in EU -> High chemical & fertilizer prices in EU

GHG in 2024 are higher than the decade before, except for LUC. It is hard to look at annual growth rates when LUC is included in the total, as LUC varies a lot from year to year, despite a downward trend. 2/2

I disagree with so much that’s in this. We don’t know if humans have the ability to remove additional carbon from the atmosphere, using either nature or technology. Now is the time for research but these are not current climate solutions. What is? Stopping the burning of fossil fuels.

This is a good article on space based solar. One thing I haven't seen anyone mention yet is the challenge of keeping a beam focused. Keeping concentrated solar rays focused on the right place has proved difficult even on the ground, which is why CPV doesn't work out and Ivanpah struggles.
