The solar panels, electric vehicles, EV batteries and wind turbines exported by China in 2025 will avoid annual emissions equal to those of the UK and Portugal combined, according to my new estimates. Avoided emissions increased 30% compared with 2024 exports.

Solar is about to overtake wind. Generation is set to rise ~600 TWh in 2026, matching last year's record, putting it second only to hydro among renewables. And renewables together are on track to out-generate coal this year.

Good morning with good news: Global solar generation rose 103% to 1,564 TWh in H1 2026, up from 769 TWh in H1 2023; It grew globally an average of 27% per year this decade! Solar was 10% of global electricity in H1 2026, up from 5.6% in H1 2023. It's 25% of global power from 11am-2pm. #energysky

The thing that bothers me most about Farage beating a bin is concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are at the highest level in around 14 million years, it hasn’t rained in months, and two of the parties that could form the next government insist this isn’t much of a problem.

I've been combing through Reform UK's latest party accounts. Reform UK took more in donations in 2025 than Labour and the Lib Dems combined...twice over. £31.9 million in donations in a non-GE year. It's staggering. They spent a lot (over £21m) but banked over £10m. Reform's war chest = £11.9m
