Pavement color differentiation matters in urban design. Grey asphalt for everything is sterilizing and looks like car infrastructure. Segmented, color specific pavements define conflict zones and say who belongs where.

Transit Signal Priority on ion Light Rail, Region of Waterloo, Ontario (2019). Trains use a horizontal (stop) or vertical (go) white aspect bar, instead of red or green. The trains follow a wave and do not stop between stations. Toronto planners, please come here! #wrLRT

This allows for the implementation, if needed, of separate crossing phases for the tramway platform, shortening the uncompressible ped phase from 20-25 sec to 8-9 sec for a two-lane crossing, which also happens to work well with the French preference for a two-phase cycle with a jolly transit phase

Place Grandclémemt is a very interesting example of how circulation planning is both a grear tool for transit priority policies and for improving the quality of public spaces. It's imperative that North America learns that we can voluntarily plan circulation patterns with the appropriate toolbox.
