I had to go find it to check on the ratio and it's even better 🤌🏻🍿
A Twitter screenshot of Sam Altman saying "cool use of chatgpt work I heard last night: connect your family calendars and explain your kids interests. Every morning for the drive to school, have it make a podcast that talks about only kids soccer game that afternoon, one kids upcoming birthday, some news, etc"

And a reply from Alex Hirsch saying "what is your just talked to your children"

The reply is ratio'ing Sam's post 10K to 112K likes

IDK who needs to hear this, but you shouldn't buy promises of utopian futures with abundance and UBI from dudes who spend a considerable fraction of their time figuring out how not to pay their taxes.

Saw the pro-shot Hadestown they released in theaters, and I just couldn't get past the historical inaccuracies. The trombone wasn't even invented until the 15th century, how could it reinforce the leitmotif of Persephone's boozy dance numbers in Ancient Greece!?

I absolutely love the title of this paper, and I believe it gestures at something pretty profound. (Alas, this is mostly about teaching, not so much about pursuing wisdom — that's a different body of work!). A short thread.

One of the ironies about AI agents in ops tasks is that it feels like there has never been as much interest in creating a forgiving environment with proper structural support than through promising to remove humans from it, finally forcing a less individualistic and blameful approach to design.

This chart about how civilizations collapse due to diminishing returns of complexity also works amazingly well to describe software. Initially adding more code maps to adding more value but at some point every new feature means new bugs and dependencies until the entire system becomes too brittle.

Our system is rigged so that one man becomes a trillionaire while millions of Americans can't afford a trip to the doctor. Wealth is funneled to the wealthy while everyone else is hanging on by their fingernails. My wealth tax would level the playing field. Let's get it done.

Now that AshPostgres supports `MERGE`, we can finally have `Ash.update_many/4` in #AshFramework 😎. This allows you to do many row-wise updates each with their own unique input. This differs from `Ash.bulk_update/4` which updates a query or a set of records with *one* set of inputs. 👇

I use LLMs to audit my code a few times a week now. Below is the prompt I use most often. It's super simple, runs in less than 30min on a medium codebase, and gives you actionable suggestions for how to improve performance, data integrity, or security in your codebase. #ElixirLang
I'm building {insert purpose of your application}.
I want you to do an adverserial review of the codebase
Please run one subagent per file and per focus (performance/security/integrity).
Write your findings to `docs/audit/(performance|security|integrity).md`.
Give each finding a unique identifier in its header.

What are y’all using these days to host Phoenix/Elixir applications? I’ve got a little side project that I want to deploy and get some use out of, but realistically we’re looking at like 10 active users per month. Above $20/mo to keep running and it’s probably not worth it.

a golden retriever puppy on a bright pink rope leash prances through some tall grass. he’s wearing a brightly patterned bandana around his neck and is carrying a miniature six-stripe pride flag in his mouth. his front right paw is raised mid-stride, like he’s ready to hop into a pride parade at any second.
