When it comes to Black people/ Africans and AI... Major tech companies have been paying Africans slave wages to do the traumatizing, digital grunt work of cleaning up AI models for use in the West. Meanwhile, people in the West use AI to destroy African/Black writers' reputations. NASTY WORK.

Great to see the community stand up against surveillance tech, great to see local officials actually listen
Header of a news article by Nickie Hayes in the Poughkeepsie Journal. “Dutchess officials change course on Flock cameras after public outcry.
Key points: Dutchess County held a Flock forum at the Pleasant Valley Town Hall on Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. to hear what people had to say about Flock cameras and answer common questions.
County officials were met with a unified display of skepticism or outright disdain for Flock cameras.
After the forum, Dutchess County Sheriff Kirk Imperati and Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi changed course.
Following a standing-room-only community forum, two county officials have announced they are withdrawing their support from Dutchess County's continued use of Flock Safety technology.“
