Been reading about terror birds. They died out about 100,000 years ago, were up to 10 feet tall, 350 kg, flightless, could run faster than an ostrich, and had sharp sickle toes for grabbing prey and huge beaks for jabbing them to death. And people complain about gulls.

Wilber Pérez entered the USA legally, had a valid work permit, no criminal record. He was working, delivering food for DoorDash, when he encountered Trump's ICE. They shot him. Arrested him, threw him in prison. He still has a bullet lodged in his back. www.thebulwark.com/p/ice-shot-a...

From 1868 until today, the Royal Institution @rigb.org in London has hosted public talks on bird origins. Huxley was first, arguing that birds came from dinosaurs, and thus Darwin must be right about evolution. On Sept 26, I'll talk about what we've learned since! Tickets ⤵️

T. rex was hot. Its body temperature, that is. Which was pretty close to our body temperature, as shown by an innovative new chemical study of its fossil teeth. Maybe so hot it was properly warm blooded like us. Maybe… My take for @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2026/09/16/s...
