It's interesting - we don't always think of slip-resistant floors in ancient baths as explicitly disability accommodations, but of course they are, in the same way that @debscavator.bsky.social has shown that ramps were frequently included at temples to Asclepius, the Greek god of healing.

Pataikos was a version of the Egyptian god Ptah who was a person with dwarfism. In some versions of the myths he is alternately considered a son of Ptah. He was a protective deity who was typically depicted in amulet form as a nude dwarf person in a bow legged stance with a scarab on his head. He strangles various dangerous animals: snakes, scorpions, and stands on the backs of crocodiles: the amulets are meant to literally show him controlling chaos. Pataikos was frequently also depicted with the goddess of war, Sekhmet, and Nefertem, the god of the lotus. Pataikos was equated by the ancient Greeks to their god Hephaestus. Let’s not forget that he wrote this review while under this investigation.
“His specific arguments on this topic, however, are deeply unsatisfying. First—and he calls this “obvious”—loving what and how you study “is routinely implicated in the enabling and justification of the predatory behavior that directly confronts women and people of other marginalized gender identities in the academy.” What on earth does “implicated” mean here? If you love the Iliad, you are implicated in sexual harassment? If you do sexually harass someone, you typically defend yourself because you love the Iliad? Don’t love your work as it may lead you to sexually harass someone?! “Routinely?!””

These are “low enrollment” majors but the classes are regularly at capacity. They changed the funding structure a few years ago here, switching the allocation from course enrollments to majors then blamed these departments for a structural, top-down change. This is entirely a political choice.
