Also, non-Black people, this is the part where you realize your No Kings parades need to be upgraded to rioting. Thanks. Even MLK, the man y’all cherry pick the most, knew that violence becomes the answer when all other methods of resistance bear no fruit.

Again, speed cameras make a lot of sense as a solution to police using traffic as a pretext for racist exploitation/violence. Issue is entrusting these systems to the police only reintroduces the very problems of the police in the first place.

People often forget that 100 years ago, Germany, not the USA, had the best research universities in the World.
Political interference by the Nazis, chased many of the best and brightest scientists away from Germany (e.g. Albert Einstein), US has dominated ever since. (Some of you will glibly say, "but America has more money to spend than anyone else" - remember it wasn't money that chased prominent German scientists away, it was a lack of academic freedom).
Contemporary American Conservatives/ Republicans believe they should emulate Hungary's Viktor Orban, but Hungary does not matter.
Whatever Orban does to Hungarian universities does not matter - but Harvard matters, a lot, to America's global reputation and the reputation of the US university system.
Anyway, it a lot easier to destroy a thing than to build a thing.

Hell yeah. I have been saying this for years now. Malls are perfect to convert to living spaces. Live/work, mixed use, elder care with dignity, there’s so many great use cases for mall layouts.

I am honestly speechless. Every university administrator at Columbia is accountable for this.
Derecka Purnell:

Last night I was injured as a result of NYPD’s reckless and indiscriminate violence against protestors at Columbia last night. A group of us rightfully tried to stop a group of 10+ cops who body slammed a student, choked him, and put his knee into his back before arresting him

When the student was pushed by the cops, he started walking away before they escalated their physical violence against him, as they did with multiple students on 114th and Broadway

As a group of us followed to intervene as the cops who picked up the student and dragged him to the ridiculous NYPD school bus for protestors and drove him away *alone*

So from the bottom of my heart, FUCK THESE GROWN ASS BLACK AND BROWN COPS STANDING ON THE FRONT LINE FOR THESE WHITE FOLKS BRUTALIZING BLACK AND BROWN KIDS FOR A SALARY

The NYPD is the most diverse, violent gang in the country. The idea that diversity as a reform is so nonsensical and I hope every shred of that desire disappears. It doesn't work in Harlem, it doen't work in Puerto Rico, it doesnt work in Memphis, as Tyre Nichols' family

The new film “Sinners” is a symphony of vampire bites, gunshot wounds, and people being staked in the heart and left to burn alive, @adamserwer.bsky.social writes. But the true horror is the Jim Crow economy, which drives every event in the film.

I should have been clearer: the shit you buy from CVS also comes from China but that's not what I'm concerned about. The reason we can consume a diet high in processed foods and not die of acute vitamin/mineral shortages is we fortify our food.

One aspect of this that must be clearly understood is that AI has no agency. It's a digital representation of the written history of a language that algorithmically generates output from input. If any real children interacted with these, it was Facebook employees, as individuals, who abused them.

Affirmative action for white people goes way back. Headright instituted in 1618 gave 50 acres to European settlers for each head of household. Later it expanded to include indentured servants and slaves. White people were given land that didn’t belong to them since before this country was founded.
