I know it’s my own fault for opening LinkedIn but I like the “Queens” puzzle game. I did not like this. I am amused someone asked AI for a poster about coaching so the woman appears to be walking up some steps in the aisle of an open top tour bus.
A dreadful AI social media image advertising a coaching course. A woman is walking up some steps (although she appears to be turning into a ghost as one of the steps is visible through her foot). The steps seem to be in the aisle of an open-topped tour coach. She’s walking towards the light, which is probably the ghost thing. On the left there is a lot of text, badly spaced, about a course but done in such a way that your eyes can’t navigate it. What a load of hooey.

I know four people who are retired and drawing pension. One does music stuff. One works at a fall alert call line. One teaches yoga. One both works and volunteers at a community garden. The third age proves that people want to do productive things they enjoy and ideally get paid too.

I'd guess in the next year or so we'll either find out that all previous designers, marketers, editors etc have been wrong all along about too much information diluting the message or making it harder to take in or remember.... or the people making AI flyers will dial it back a bit

Your reminder why many women, when asked what they’d do if there were no men for a day, said they’d go for a walk at night and look at the stars. Also, why we’d choose the bear.

This, and the original post about not using asterisks or cutesy ways to use a name without just using it. If someone has muted a name, it’ll be for a good reason. Also, what we see is “post muted” so we can opt in to read it if we want to, so you should respect how this place allows boundaries.

There’s good reason that Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell (and all Clarke’s related Faerie stories) use York as a key locus point, you know. The King in the North was very much a thing and it was *not* a Manchester mayor.

Thanks to the "legitimate concerns" paradigm, we have a national consensus that migrants (you know which specific ones) are a problem. More migrants = bad, fewer migrants = good. In that context, "anti-migrant protestor" isn't even neutral language to describe this fascist thug. It is *positive*.

will say it again: the most effective way to curb far right agitators like Lowe, "Tommo" et. al. would be to stop their ability to earn money for it from social media or live streaming. So much of it is grifting for revenue, not attention.

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same. This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano

Wide shot of the BRITISH MUSEUM. There are suggestions of fascism around the streets - tanks, barricades, an Orwellian 'Big Brother'-style poster on a wall. A voice of a TOUR GUIDE emanates from the museum:

TOUR GUIDE:
So the Tapestry tells acrucial chapter of our nation's history...

2
[Cut to interior of museum. A long Bayeaux-style TAPESTRY is on display, and the Tour Guide is speaking to a tour group]

TOUR GUIDE [smiling]:
How modern fascist Britain was created.

3
TOUR GUIDE:
The Tapestry begins here with the 2008 Crash, then austerity, then the AI Crash...

4
TOUR GUIDE:
...and by the end of the room it's just full-on fash.

5
CHILD IN TOUR GROUP [gesturing to the tapestry]:
What's this middle bit?

TOUR GUIDE:
This is the 2026 Battle of Legitimate Concerns

6
TOUR GUIDE:
[show a reporter standing next to the Dover protests]
Here's the media saying the government have got to do something about the legitimate concerns...

7
CHILD:
...About the failure of capitalism?

TOUR GUIDE:
No about brown people on boats

8
CHILD:
[pointing at boats crossing the sea on the tapestry]
Are these boats the mega-dinghies?

TOUR GUIDE:
Not all of them

9
[we see one of the boats is a giant yacht]
TOUR GUIDE:
That one's a superyacht,
carrying money from the American fascists to the British ones.

10
TOUR GUIDE:
You see really it's as much a story of convergence as it is of conflict.

[An alarm sounds in the museum]
DING DING DING DING

11
TOUR GUIDE:
Ok, tour over everyone

12
TOUR GUIDE:
It's time for the Two Minute Hate!

[They all leave the museum]

[ends]
