Living in a farming community, when I was 10 my year was called to a special assembly at school and shown Apaches, a public information film on farm safety. When video nasties hit a couple of years later we all dismissed them as children's fare compared to this youtu.be/_we-3Uqu5sw?...

The real reason the Doctor abandoned Dodo is finally revealed after all these years: he’d had enough of the TARDIS stinking of weed. Poor Dodo- if she’d have lasted a little longer I’m sure the 2nd Doctor wouldn’t have had the same problem. Instead she ended up being sent to rehab

A problem for artists with TV and film adaptations is the extra time need to match the actor’s appearance so Dick Turpin was a godsend for artists as you could hide his face with a mask. The downside to Dick Turpin was any time saved by this was spent having to draw horses!

Me, sir? Use photoshop sir? Of course not sir. Meanwhile, here's the latest news on the Reform conference
The original headline read "Chris Mason: 'This is not what Farage wanted today to look like" which I've altered to read "Farage: 'This is not what Chris Mason wanted today to look like" under the photos of members of the Reform looking like they're attending a cross up between the Last Night of the Proms and the Nuremberg Rally and a photo of Chris Mason looking like he's about to cry because someone's just grabbed him by the testicles. Oh the humanity

FFS,can someone please stop with the desaturation filter in modern tv and cinema. This is from the first episode of the third season of Vigil and is so bad it makes me long for the days of day for night filming. I genuinely feel sorry for all the creatives involved as their work is unwatchable
Alt description is useless here as the image is so desaturated as to render everything indistinguishable. It's a screenshot from ep 1 season 3 of the tv series Vigil. It's set in the arctic circle so should be either dark or light but instead looks like a murky dusk, everything in monochromatic blue-grey and I believe there are four people in the scene but it's incredibly hard to tell

Jane Fonda’s tribute to Dolly is perfect.
janefonda
I am devastated. I just learned that Dolly has moved on. I know that millions are mourning and I want to say this - more than anyone I have ever known, Dolly will always be with us because she was so present, so powerful, so generous and playful that she is woven into all our lives and hearts forever. We have our memories of her, her songs, Dollywood, "9to5," the millions of books she got into the hands of children, all the iconic images that bring her to us. And they are all blessings. Let's be grateful for all that she has left us to ease our sadness now. I never knew anyone like her. She was simultaneously a naughty, playful southern gal from the hollows of
Tennessee and a deep, soulful thinker who could see through people right down to their true selves. She was many things...lyricist, songstress, player of many instruments, writer, prankster, visionary, loyal friend, who'd never go to bed before she and her friends had laughed so hard
they'd have to cross their legs.
She had a survivor's instinct and seemed to always know just what to do, just what to say, to make things right....and then she's stick her butt out the car window and moon Kenny Roger's home. She was the voluptuous embodiment of empathy. That's something of hers she'd want us all to take with us.
To her gay and trans fans, I want you to know that she loved you. You know that without me telling you. She loved all her fans and they are legion. And you know she doesn't want y'all to mourn now. Dress up and celebrate her spirit. But first, watch the final episode of Grace and Frankie where she's an Angel, the head honcho working class angel in Heaven.
RIP, beautiful woman. We love you.

Didn’t know what to say about Dolly Parton’s passing until I read Jane Fonda’s eulogy, which succinctly summed her up with a single phrase: ”the voluptuous embodiment of empathy.” RIP Dolly
