These are not ebikes, for fucks sake. They’re electric motorbikes and if the police are selling on motor vehicles with no type approval, that’s the real fucking story @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social. They should be crushed; not put back onto the streets to be seized again.

Why I don´t talk about helmets? I lost too many wearing them. On Car-Free Day, 22 September, Nicolò, a seven-year-old child, was killed by a motorist in Turin. He was riding in the bike lane, wearing his helmet, riding to school with his father. A car driver killed him anyway. Photo Fabio Ferrari

What relevance has her bike's battery got to this report? You haven't told us if the 4x4 that hit her is petrol or diesel. You haven't told us if it had a driver. Are you trying to provoke fear of e-bikes now?

Back-to-school season is the perfect time to think about what kind of space children have outside the school gates. Fewer cars = more safety, more calm, and more freedom to walk or cycle. But too often, it’s not the reality. Let’s add safer streets to the back-to-school checklist ✅

BBC London posts a video where someone injured by an e-bike rider (type of e-bike, whether legal or illegal, unspecified) says the danger from e-bikes is greater than cars. No stats presented to show that this is demonstrably false. The BBC's shoddy reporting is leading to more dangerous roads.

Setting the conditions for modal shift away from motor vehicles - including by re-allocating road space, re-designing junctions, and systematically implementing a network of protected, connected mobility lanes - doesn't just provide congestion and climate benefits: - it's good public health policy.
