It's amazing how some people dehumanize others simply for choosing a transportation method that doesn't involve a car. They also hate traffic and other drivers, while simultaneously seething with rage at anyone walking, cycling, or proposing we fund better public transit.

Carbon Brief’s current figures are about 20.1p/mile for petrol, 21p/mile for diesel, 7p/mile for an EV charged at the household price cap, and 2.3p/mile for an EV on a cheap off-peak tariff. The “9x times cheaper” headline is specifically the comparison between ~21p and the 2.3p off-peak EV figure.

One thing this misses is that the residents have to pay to maintain the road, which isn't cheap. So when this gentleman and others drive on the road, they're doing damage and expecting others to pick up the bill, or to suffer the consequences of it being covered in potholes.

Guess what. Voters (and the economy) will punish him too if he doesn’t. It needs to go, certainly in its current form. Perhaps only retained for those on pension credit (only ~15% of all state pension recipients). It is unaffordable and the one benefit that needs cutting urgently.

I’m not the first person to make this observation, but these cycle hangers are ridiculous! Having successfully got a bike reservation at last minute, next barrier to taking a bike on a train being able to lift it above head height- despite being tall and able bodied, needed help!

I figured out why I don't do recreational riding. It's endlessly frustrating on shared pathways. You're constantly dodging cars at conflict points, navigating pedestrians all over the path, runners running down the dead center of the path, dog walkers that allow long leashes, etc.

This is good bike parking. It has angular tubing, which prevents the quiet use of pipe cutters for theft. The racks are also spaced far enough apart to allow for larger bikes to be parked with room for the rider to maneuver while on foot. Also, this is entrance-adjacent to the building.
