Made the mistake of spending 10 minutes on LinkedIn in. It gave me the same feeling I used to get when reading personal statements on undergrad applications (UCAS forms). “If so many good people have done so many good works, how can there be any problems left in the world?”

Plans for judge-only trials have been axed. This is positive: these would have put justice at risk for small time savings. But contrary to reporting, the government is still proposing to substantially restrict jury trials — by around a third! Here’s how and why it matters 🧵

Miss Piggy, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, and Kermit the FrogFrank Oz and Jim Henson work with the Yoda puppet headOne difficult day, when Hamill solemnly told Yoda, "I followed my feelings," Oz suddenly and incongruously popped Miss Piggy into the scene decked out in lavender gown and gloves.

"Feelings? Ya wanna know about feelings? Get behind this couch and I'll show ya feelings, ya little runt," squealed Miss Piggy. "Where the hell is this? Get my agent on the phone. I've been booked in dumps before, but nothin' like this."

As the crew howled with laughter, Hamill and Piggy went into a duet of the tune "Feelings," and Kershner cringed. "I could joke about everything else but not about Yoda," says the director. "I had to keep him a living thing with feelings and imagination."Miss Piggy, Yoda, and Kermit the Frog

A really important factor in Home Office-calculated stop and search disproportionality is that the Census denominator is only updated every 10 years. GMP illustrates the impact of this demographic drag: a sharp step down when the denominator switched from 2011 to 2021.
