I was told Zohran Mamdani would instantly turn New York into a crime-ridden hellscape. Yet murders are down almost 20%, year over year. 203 people have been slain, about 22.5 per month. In 1990, that average was *251 per month.* NYC has never been this safe.

In New York City this year, 203 people have been murdered—the fewest ever. In the first 9 months of last year, 253 were murdered, also an all-time low. Back in 1990 there were a million fewer people, of whom 1700 were murdered in the first 9 months. I’ll never get over this..

Of course. The Supreme Court kicked off its new term today by hearing oil companies’ attempt to throw out a lawsuit seeking to make them pay for climate damage they caused. The outcome could determine whether similar lawsuits brought by cities and counties across the country can move forward.
