Ok, time for a very simple English lesson. While English _had_ a pretty comprehensive set of personal pronouns, it no longer does. Second person got hit hard and as a result second person plural objective (the 2nd person equivalent of "us" or "them") gets used as a both subject and a singular. 1/

In 1986, just getting prescribed hormones as a transgender person was a years long ordeal. Even in the most liberal mainstream workplaces, being gay and/or trans had to be a secret.

In 1986, contracting HIV meant you were going to die, usually slowly, painfully, and alone. Now it's a chronic illness like hypertension. In 1986, gay and lesbian couples couldn't have their relationships legally recognized and had to adopt elaborate legal workarounds.

Pluto - Approximate True Color - From Aster Cowart (terrasabaea.bsky.social) - flic.kr/p/yNoRBQ
Alteration of the official New Horizons "extended color" release in order to approximate true color.

This works on the assumption that the green and blue channels in the official MVIC release represent essentially raw MVIC red and blue filters. The green and blue channels were blended (55% red, 45% blue; determined by comparing to older true color image releases). The green channel in the official image release became red, and the synthetic green channel was inserted in its place.

You're looking at a 200 year-old wisteria vine at Byakugou-ji Temple in Tamba, Hyogo, Japan. The delicate pink/purple blossoms create an otherworldly place where magic can happen. But here's an interesting fact: wisteria are in the legume family (Fabaceae). This is a magic beanstalk.
Taken from a Reddit post, a framework supports purple-pink blossoms that blot out the top of the photo, shading the light a magical color, with a dark vine stem in the distance.

My grandmother had a saying: "And Magda Goebbels made a great strudel." For years I didn't understand it, until my mother explained that some glossy magazine once ran a puff piece on Magda Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda queen - complete with her strudel recipe. My grandmother, who despised the Nazis with every ounce of her soul, used it as shorthand for the way media will sanitize evil by focusing on something trivial, domestic, or charming while ignoring the atrocities staring us in the face.

I read the ARC of Daggerbound by @tkingfisher.com and I think you should too! 5 stars! It comes out August 25! Don’t miss it. Thank you to #netgalley and Tor for the ARC!! #bookstagram #bookreview #mmromance #daggerbound #ARC
i just read: Daggerbound by T Kingfisher. This is my ARC review.

What the expect:
>2nd in a series, but can be read as a standalone
>mm romance: awkward scholar + flirty mercenary
>trapped in a dagger
>religious trauma + PTSD
>eclectic group on a journeymy thoughts
5 stars
A scholar, a man in a sword, a gnoll, and a giant pillbug get wrapped up in a journey together. With multiple kidnappings, a sacrifice to a dragon, and a budding romance, the story is a whirlwind in the best ot ways.
I loved the tension between the main couple: Edmund and the Dervish. Every time the Dervish flirted and Edmund came back with some inane tactoid due to his nervousness, I couldn't help but have a cheesy grin on my face.
It felt like I was along for the ride on a wonderfully funny DnD campaign, and I wanted to root for all the lovable characters. I liked seeing the characters from the last book too!here's a few quotes
> “He wasn't a healer. He was good at fighting and fucking, the order of which changed depending on his mood that day.”

>"I wouldn't try to wield you, I'm not even sure how that would work..." He stopped. His ears felt hot.
"Oh, I don't know," drawled the Dervish. "Sometimes a little mutual wielding can be fun.'
"
Read Daggerbound when it comes out on August 25 2026

I'm just thinking about Achilles. Would you rather have a long pleasant life, or everlasting fame? I, personally, read his post-death comments not as, "I chose wrong," but as, "I wish I were immortal, like mom," but if his fame were for tripping and faceplanting, I bet there'd have been regret.
