Now that the summer peak is behind us, we can confidently conclude that 2024 will retain its title for warmest day on record, with 2023 coming in 2nd and 2026 coming in a close 3rd. August was nonetheless the warmest month on record, as a growing El Nino event adds to steady ongoing warming.

A study of 154 professional singers found COVID-19 had lasting effects on vocal health. After recovering from COVID, 53% reported persistent vocal changes and 44% new throat clearing. Researchers found COVID more than doubled the risk of voice impairment, highlighting the need for post-COVID care.

Even if we are able to capture all CO₂ emitted at point sources with CCS and scale atmospheric CO₂ removal (CDR) to billions of tonnes per year (we can't and never will), continuing to burn fossil fuels means that millions of people will continue to die from air pollution each year.

BREAKING: Enbridge’s aging Line 5 pipeline is spilling natural gas liquids in northern Wisconsin. The rupture occurred just east of the Bad River Reservation near Lake Superior on August 25, 2026. According to Enbridge, an unoccupied semi-truck rolled into an excavation site and struck the pipeline.
