I literally don’t know a single woman who hasn’t been raped, stalked, groped, harassed, or sexually violated in some way at some point in their life. If you choose to doubt and dox survivors, just know every woman in your life is disgusted by you.

And I really do think that's what most of our disabled comrades are complaining about, insofar as they are. Not that we haven't eliminated all health risks in our spaces but that we don't behave like this stuff matters for all of us as a movement...

*We're" the ones who force them into having to consider their health individually when we decline to think about it collectively, rather than working with our disabled comrades to make reasonable choices re: weighing risks. Something they have more experience with anyway!

And yeah when you put people in that position, you are only gonna hear from certain people. You aren't gonna hear from people who don't want to talk about their personal needs in an organizing context, they'll just be quiet and protect themselves. Which is a big loss.

I don’t even know what to say anymore. The only thing Covid conscious people are trying to do, truly, is not get sick. That we’ve become the country’s newest freak show is predictable given the pandemic, but truly despicable on a base human level.

infuriating to see so many posts dismissing those calling for masks becuase the mask is not a systemic solution, when the only other people who showed up to beg for systemic solutions the public meetings i attended were also chronically ill & disabled people (+ woefully few allies) in masks 🤔

Stop calling people who wear masks and take Covid precautions the “forever covid” crowd. We’re literally the only ones trying to eliminate the virus. It’s not gone. It’s not over. It’s still disabling. People who deny this reality are the “forever COVID” crowd.

People aren’t faking their disabilities, they’re faking being well. We know society hates us. We know we will be judged for using assistive devices. Many of us take years to get the courage to lean in to accommodations. Stop judging. Help us build a more inclusive world.

The U.S. has entered its 13th COVID wave, with an estimated 1 in 86 Americans currently infectious. Around 567,000 new infections are occurring daily, totalling 3.69 million in a week. PMC estimates a single week at this level could result in 900–1,600 excess deaths. www.wsws.org/en/articles/...
A line graph titled "SARS-CoV-2 New Daily Infections, Wastewater-Derived Estimates (U.S.)" from the Pandemic Mitigation Collaborative (PMC) Model, dated September 7, 2026.
The graph plots estimated daily COVID-19 infections from 2020 through late 2026, with the y-axis ranging from 0 to over 5,000,000. Individual pandemic waves are numbered sequentially from 1 to 13, with a massive peak at wave 4 in early 2022. Wave 13 is shown ticking upwards at the far-right edge.
A central prominent box highlights the date Sep 7, 2026, with a note stating "Preliminary estimates for the past nine days." The graph is attributed to Michael Hoerger, PhD, MSCR, MBA (@michael_hoerger) and references pmc19.com. A text box at the bottom states: "PMC identifies 12 SARS-CoV-2 waves and estimates averages of 5.4 infections per person and 14.5 months between infections."

The conversation about AI in health stuff is always about the risks of patients using AI. I'm more worried about possibilities like every appointment gets inspected by an insurance company in detail so that if a patient uses the slightly wrong words about something their care is denied.

Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

It’s incredibly frustrating that we don’t have timely or accurate Covid variant data in the US anymore. It’s possible that the public health lab funding sources for this on-going effort (which has been carrying us as the CDC does almost zero sequencing) are starting to dry up.
Message on CDC Covid variant sequencing data saying “Due to low numbers of sequences being reported to CDC, precision in the most recent reporting period is low, so Nowcast estimates will not be available this week”.

This is WITH a month cadence of reporting. So our next update won’t be until a month from now!Graph showing that public health labs are carrying the weight for providing sequencing data. Over the past 3-4 months this data has dropped off significantly. Only ~150 sequences have been provided in the past 2 weeks of May. It has been over 2 months since any data has been contributed by the CDC for COVID variant sequencing information.

"Should I start masking again because of #hantavirus?" It's been a wise preventive behavior to mask the past 6 years. The U.S. has twice annual COVlD waves. We've dipped into a "lull" after the 12th wave this winter, but we're still at 180,000 estimated new daily infections.

A refreshingly straightforward explanation about the REAL (genetic) causes of autism. It's a complex topic. @wiringthebrain.bsky.social does a terrific job here demystifying it.
All of this speculation about environmental contributors obscures and distracts from what we know about the real causes of autism — that it is a genetic condition affecting neural development. This message is challenging to communicate. The genetics underpinning autism is extremely complex. But the evidence for primarily genetic causation is overwhelming and scientists are identifying more of the specific causes all the time.

Nice reminder that because a study is published in a journal does not mean it’s a good study or that its stated conclusions are reasonable! When people say they are “doing their own research,” even if reading primary literature, missing the context & subtleties can lead to wildly wrong conclusions.
