Sort of insane fact about how broken US urban planning is—America now spends more building *just the lights for roads and highways* than on all subways & ground mass transit combined Spending on roadway *pavement* is 18x transit spending

A 7 panel comic by the artist. First panel: The artist is running from a distance towards a group of people playing basketball in the park. The artist is holding a pumpkin above their head and screaming "AAAAAAAAA". Second panel: The artist has leapt up and is in position to slam dunk the pumpkin into the basketball hoop. Panel three: the pumpkin splatters violently against the backboard of the basketball hoop, sending orange pumpkin goop everywhere. Panel four: the players stand staring, covered in pumpkin goop and shocked. Panel five: the artist stares at them wide-eyed, also covered in the goop and says "it's October FIRST". Their hand reaches towards their face. Panel six: the artist rips off their own face like a rubber mask to reveal a skeleton beneath. Panel 7: the group of players stand shocked and horrified, watching as the skeleton falls to the ground in a pile of bones, the sound effects says "CLATTER".

Saying you can threaten trans people with camps? That’s fine. Telling the hard of trust and safety that there’s been an uptick in this behavior and telling him he’s to blame? Verboten, you’re suspended. Fuck this platform.

For context here, a user was responding in a thread to other users (unrelated to the original post) when they used the phrase
"Trans rights or Trans camps. You chose the camps and you're blaming Dems" followed by profanity.

Are they threatening trans users directly?
No. Trans folks in the US have been targeted repeatedly. That's awful and you have my sympathy.
Within the context of a single post we wouldn't consider it a direct threat or targeting a protected category. le send trans folks to concentration camps.

Officer Jose Jimenez, 34, had only been assigned to the SWAT team for less than a year. He was previously a member of the Community Response Group, SPD’s “problem-oriented policing” unit.

You know when public attention can reverse a prosecutorial decision like this you almost get the sense that the decision to shrug it off in the first place was not based on an assessment of the quality of the evidence so much as an assessment of the seriousness of the crime.

lastditchbar on instagram:

Our community should expect more details in
the future. Today we need to address the safety
of the community itself. Stop harassing Soe
Noire. It is neither productive, progressive, nor
valiant to attack and harass a black patron. He
has been a collaborator and performer of Last
Ditch for a while, and he deserves to speak his
mind about accountability and repair from the
bar. There are so many misconceptions due to
the disorganization of the Globe's article. He did
not call for a shutdown, nor did he call for the
bar to be firebombed. Further, he did not
disparage the owner for being homeless. As a
result of this abysmal journalism, Soe has been
getting additional threats, slurs, and
harassment, and now he is being reported to the
police over something he did not do. This is not
supporting us at Last Ditch, and it is at its core,
anti-blackness hysteria.
