There is a lot of "oh dear" to go around in the results of this very thorough Pew study on the issues with synthetic samples, but this strikes me as particularly "oh dear" www.pewresearch.org/data-labs/20...
AI polling results can lean on racial or partisan stereotypes

In many cases, our AI poll took beliefs or attitudes that are reasonably common among a particular subgroup and portrayed them as nearly ubiquitous. For example, our AI poll would indicate that:

97% of Hispanic adults are at least somewhat likely to follow the World Cup (while the actual share is 43%).

COD is lying to the public about collaboration with ICE in violation of state and local law. I, for one, want the mayoral candidates to weigh in on what we, the lublic should expect from them and from the police forces that ostensibly serve us.

Every mayor in America should be asked what they are going to do to ensure civilian control of our police forces, and what they will do to officers or departments that break the law.

Civil Gideon (a publicly-provided defense lawyer) for immigration, eviction, and a wide variety of similar civil court cases is a very technocratic fix for a gaping hole in our social safety net. You only have a right to a lawyer in criminal cases, and most government action is civil in nature!

There is no hell hot enough for what must be done to the people that did these evils in our name. Prosecution of ICE is the moderate, even conservative solution. We either answer this without mercy, or we are damned to history.

LGBT youth make up a disproportionate amount of children in care. Often because their birth families abuse or neglect them for being LGBT. This ruling is a disgrace and a travesty, privileging parent's religious beliefs over child safety and their right to develop their own identity.

This seems like a pretty big deal: donors made illegal contributions to Susan Collins and then were awarded lucrative contracts after her office intervened with the Navy. An FBI investigation was dropped under Trump. www.propublica.org/article/fbi-...
To skirt campaign finance laws and conceal the source of the funds, Navatek planned to funnel the donation through a shell company. The CEO wanted assurance that Collins would know where
the money came from. Reed confirmed that she would, the executive said - and that Navatek would get its government contracts.
After the Corner Bakery meeting, Navatek's CEO, Martin Kao, sent an initial $150,000 to the Collins super PAC using the shell company. Two months later, he told Navatek executives that Collins committed to getting the company $32 million in naval contracts, according to an internal company email reviewed by ProPublica.

The LGBTQ community certainly isn't a monolith, and it is perhaps very very fortunate for liberal politicians in the West that we are largely kind, empathetic, and patient with our allies. We take a *lot* of shit and brush it off in the name of peace, hoping for justice, or at least to be let be.
