More data showing that 85%+ of accounts just read/lurk. This is important because it means that very active fake accounts (often hundreds of accounts controlled by one person or organization) can easily dominate conversations, creating the illusion of consensus or popularity. 1/2

From personal experience, very common story in Chinese diaspora families is losing contact with the family on the mainland in the 50s, reconnecting with them some time in the 80s or 90s, and finding out a lot of them died as a direct result of the Cultural Revolution

Bluesky's jetstream (live API feed of all posts) is currently offline, so BlueNotify notifications will be delayed until it comes back. Interestingly there was a HUGE spike in posts right before it happened. I'm curious if there was some attack on bluesky's infrastructure that did it.
