I do believe people who committed crimes or ethically bad deeds can be better, but we do not owe them a clean slate, let alone a media career based on how good their opinions are. Wanting to make restitution means knowing that there’s ongoing work required and probable consequences.

They -want- to minimize it, but the presence of people they respect who refuse to do that make them feel guilty, so they want to offload that guilt by making a case, its a big... brain mess... that would be a lot better handled by staying quiet than by trying to downplay the guy's actions

I don’t know what restorative justice looks like in a case like this. I don’t know what it means to hold someone accountable. But I do know how painful it is to see someone admit to doing sexual violence against someone else and a crowd of people immediately rush to minimize it as a youthful mistake
