It's important to note that with David Ellison pledging editorial independence, the day the Paramount merger closed, he visited the CBS newsroom and said he didn't want to politicize the company. Staffers at the time credited him for saying all the right things. We know how that turned out for CBS.

I already see us getting a news cycle parsing through Trump's "let 'em take out Los Angeles" comments, with media folks straining themselves to give the most charitable interpretation of what he actually meant. But one thing's clear - that Nebraska crowd cheered on the prospect of LA getting nuked.

The weird thing about that whole portion of the speech is he began by riffing about high gas prices being a "small price" to pay for winning the war, before going on a tangent about which American cities he'd be okay with Iran destroying.

So @willsommer.bsky.social got hold of the script for The Daily Wire's upcoming pro-ICE movie, which is centered in Minneapolis. It has a scene with a Renee Good stand-in, who is described as a "fat blue-hair," but this time she kills an ICE agent with her car. www.thebulwark.com/p/daily-wire...
Then the film’s Renée Good stand-in enters, slamming her Subaru into the ICE van. Described with the subtlety of a brick as “MELANIE (40), a fat blue-hair,” the woman, blasting NPR, revs up again and fatally hits ICE agent “Juan” with her car. Then his ICE partner, “Mike,” shoots her in a justifiable killing.

Melanie reacts to the drawn gun with panic...

She MASHES on the gas as she throws the car into reverse, accidentally SLAMMING Juan out of the way. He goes flying into the gutter, bleeding...

And as the car reverses, Mike FIRES TWICE through the

windshield...

The first shot takes the [sic] Melanie in the neck, below her covid

mask. The second in the head, above her covid mask.

Blood SPLATTERS on her PASSENGER’s (40s, female, overweight)

forehead and matching covid mask.

From there, the ICE agent drags his suspect into the pawn shop, with an Antifa mob hot on their heels. The stage is now set for a siege, during which numerous Molotov cocktails will be thrown and shotgun shells will fly. Rest assured that no liberal piety will survive.

Inside the pawn shop, we meet its grizzled Hispanic owner and his son, newly back from college and majoring in Chicano studies. Much to his father’s chagrin, the son is dressed in a Che Guevara shirt and “listening to a POP SONG unfitting for a man.” A pawn-shop security guard quips they’re lucky the boy didn’t get a sex change.

In tonight's Ragebait, I look at how MAGA media has responded once the Schmitt hit the fan. After Hannity and other MAGA luminaries quickly covered up their tracks after initially cheering on Eric Schmitt's debacle, Fox News has all but ignored the fiasco. zeteo.com/p/what-snl-g...
Almost immediately after Schmitt finished his performative demagoguery against Smith, complete with props and smugly calling the former special counsel a “dirtbag,” several MAGA luminaries clipped the moment and boasted on X that Schmitt had “CAUGHT” Smith perjuring himself in a “deer-in-the-headlights moment.” It was almost as if Schmitt’s team had coordinated with these influencers in advance.

Of course, it didn’t take long for Schmitt’s supposed bombshell to blow up in his face, leaving his GOP colleagues absolutely crestfallen. (That tends to happen when you confuse a women’s college basketball team from Iowa with the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks.) And once the online mockery went into overdrive, the MAGA chorus that had been singing Schmitt’s praises quickly began covering up their tracks.

Whether it was Fox star Sean Hannity, serial plagiarist Benny Johnson, Mark Levin’s producer, or the far-right aggregator Overton News, they all deleted their tweets celebrating Schmitt placing Smith “on the spot.”Furthermore, instead of spending Tuesday night and Wednesday morning soaking up adulation from Fox hosts while making multiple on-air appearances, Schmitt’s performance was all but ignored by the Murdoch-owned conservative cable giant. Outside of ‘Special Report with Bret Baier,’ which did cover Schmitt’s screw-up, Fox has largely ignored the entire affair through Wednesday afternoon, according to a transcript search by media monitoring service TVEyes. (Hannity, while devoting much of his show to the Smith hearing, acted as if Schmitt wasn’t even there.)

Besides Schmitt’s post-hearing appearance on ‘The Charlie Kirk Show’ (yes, it is still called that), which saw the oblivious hosts give the senator his “flowers” for leaving Smith “dumbfounded,” Fox’s smaller on-air competitors have tried to downplay Schmitt’s blunder while criticizing the liberal media’s coverage of it. (The ‘Charlie Kirk’ hosts tried to clean it up on Wednesday afternoon, shrugging off Schmitt’s rake-stepping as a “little faux pas” and “diversion.”)

Share

“Meanwhile, Democrats accused Republicans of spreading conspiracies about Smith’s actions. Typical crap,” One America News host Dan Ball huffed last night. “As usual, Democrats defending him time and time again, trying to shield him from any scrutiny, including during a line of questioning from Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt at one point.”

“Now, clearly there wasn’t a good moment for Senator Eric Schmitt, but the leftists at MS NOW spent more than five minutes on it this morning, like it was the only thing that came out of this hearing,” Newsmax’s Marc Lotter complained earlier today.

Indeed, why not use that airtime to cover more pressing topics, like non-existent trans athletes in the WNBA or the latest offhand remarks made by a leftist Twitch streamer from California?
