it’s a start! doesn’t do anything for bike lanes that aren’t next to bus lanes though, right? More fuel for my hot take that the actual (short-term) solution is that *every* bike lane should be converted to parking-protected by default, whenever the street is repaved if not sooner.

When you take a transit vehicle with strangers, there is an inherent trust you're giving to one another. That trust in each other is so essential to the health of our larger society and our democracy.

When we start to drive people away and send messages that that shared space is not a place to be, you're going to see our institutions and our societal structures start to dismantle. I believe in CTA not just for Chicago, but really for our country.

Block on Bedford Ave in Brooklyn where the entire bike lane is filled with double parked cars.
