Not every cell react the same way to caspase activation. In our recent study (led by @tomcumming.bsky.social and initiated by @avillars.bsky.social ), we tried to better understand what explains this difference and outlined a role of past caspase exposure 👇 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Tissue morphogenesis demands massive deformations, yet tissues must stay coherent. This is achieved through cell intercalation, also known as T1 transitions. But what drives them mechanically? I'm @arturruppel.bsky.social, and I'll walk you through the physics, from whole embryos down to four cells

In fact, I have built something like this for my personal library and I found it quite useful. You can check it out on my GitHub (the code, not the library itself). Always happy to share more details if anyone is interested :)

I don’t think they’re incompatible at all, the promise is a much more powerful search engine. Imagine you could ask a specific question about something you are wondering about and the search engine can point you to direct quotes from relevant papers and package it into a narrative.

New paper in @natphys.nature.com! We uncovered a stress adapation mechanism where keratin intermediate filaments in stretched epithelia undergo a supracellular bundling transition that uncages the nucleus. www.nature.com/articles/s41... @ibecbarcelona.eu, @upc.edu @qmul.bsky.social

A minimal in vitro assay for cell intercalation highlights the importance of interfacial tension and migratory forces - Nature Physics
Cell intercalation is an exchange of cell neighbours. Now it is shown in a minimal system of four cells that intercalation is driven by junction tension and migratory forces.

Our latest work on shape-programmable tissues is out in @science.org. By positioning topological defects in cellular nematics, we encode frustrated 2D force fields that relax into predictable 3D shapes. Collaboration with Marino Arroyo’s lab, led by @pauguillamat.bsky.social at @ibecbarcelona.eu.

We had covered the history of traction force microscopy (TFM) earlier: bsky.app/profile/epim... But what about applying TFM into more physiologically relevant systems, such as those in 3D? I am @barrasa-fano.bsky.social and I'll be your guide through this thread on #3DTractionForceMicroscopy.
