stumbled across this, and its amazing to see people say what I've said about "Queers for Palestine" demanding that LGBT people give up on their rights where they live to spend all their time fighting for people who don't support them in other countries and they're like "yeah that right!"
“Palestine isn’t just another cause for queer movements—it’s a litmus test,” says Alexander Stoffel, a queer historian and author of Eros and Empire. “It reveals two competing visions of queerness. One is white, Western and assimilationist, seeking validation from the very powers that once criminalized it.” The other, he argues, is liberationist and intersectional, grounded in solidarity and “the belief that freedom must include the right of all people to shape their own lives.”

By arguing that most of the world's Jews are complicit in Ben-Gvir's unpopular-even-in-Israel racism, they are hoping to sidestep the thing that primarily drives diaspora engagement with zionism as a concept. Namely: that these motherfuckers won't stop trying to kill us all.

I want you to imagine people deciding you are unworthy of a basic level of standing in general society, based on a belief you hold specifically *because the last 2,000 years of the history of your people has shown, repeatedly, that it’s not just rational, but vital, for you to hold it*.

Whether you realise it or not, by adopting this motion, the vast majority of British Jews (even the many who are vocal critics of the Israeli government, even a section of those 10% or so of British Jews who consider themselves explicitly anti-Zionist) will see the Greens as an antisemitic party.

The majority of Jews in Israel today trace their origins to the Arab countries that they were largely forced out of in the last 75 years (an act of vast regional ethnic cleansing itself, which the far left are forced to try and blame on ludicrous claims - eg. Avi Shlaim’s - of Zionist shadow ops).

Pete is lost in terms of modern war. I use the example of this outgunned Ukrainian army officer who successfully terrorized a Russian unit for weeks because she "did the math." At the time, someone commented, "yeah, in combat, 'I did the math' beats 'I can do 100 pushups' every time."
Ukrainian female soldier: Okay, I said the idea is this: There is enough time to empty one full can of 32 grenades and be gone by the time the return mortar fire reaches us. I did the math.

i have some questions
Hazrat's book is a history of punctuation—or some punctuation, since it barely mentions the apostrophe, the serial comma, or quotation marks. "On the Mark" is a "the X that changed the world" book, which is a popular genre. Its claim is that "the history of punctuation is the history of humanity."

This ambition inevitably leads to overreach. If punctuation played a role in everything, what about, say, the war in Gaza? Hazrat finds a link. "Punctuation marks in Hebrew," she explains, "are relics of a brutal colonial system that is far from over." Adding punctuation turned Hebrew into a spoken language, "paving the way for an artificial sense of unity among Jewish people from all over the globe, encouraging them to move to the land that already had people—a people made to suffer and bear the brunt of European anti-Semitism in the most horrendous ways for generations. " It seems (the reason is not altogether clear) that, had Yiddish been the official language of Israel, atrocities might have been avoided.

So I think it's one step further than that, these folks only feel safe if they can *manipulate and control* others, and one of the ways they do that is through open and active abuse. When you refuse to abide by their control schemes, they interpret that as a *lack of safety*. It's *wild* to watch.

Roman Christianity didn’t need to get patriarchy from Judaism. Pre-Christian Rome was extremely patriarchal. And yes, some of the cultures on the periphery of the empire had different gender norms… but there were many such cultures. And much migration. And North is a different direction from West.

The way this works in the US is the left defers entirely to the epistemic authority of Palestinians, regardless of how intolerant or illiberal their views, while granting epistemic authority to Jews only insofar as they can be called upon to explain why the objections of other Jews can be dismissed

Like most of these people genuinely do not actually understand basically anything about Israeli history, not least because KNOWING the Israeli version of history as opposed to completely uncritically accepting the Palestinian nationalist version is seen as a mark of Cain & intrinsically corrupting.

Yes, thats the purpose of blood libel, to create an infinite permission structure for Antisemitism to thrive Antisemitism is, at its core, the proposition that "there are rules that apply to human being that do not apply to Jews" with all the myriad horrors it brings with it downstream from that

It is genuinely chilling how quickly antisemitism in leftist and entertainer spaces is accelerating. All they need to do is cite Palestine and suddenly everyone forgets everything they've been told in favor of defending blatant antisemitism from has-beens and mediocrities.
