Living with #LongCovid + caring for patients? @shh-uk.bsky.social runs free peer support groups. 🗓️ On Thursday 1st October at 7pm, I'll be sharing short, practical nervous-system regulating tools to fit into a busy clinical day. 📧 To get your joining link, email supportgroup@ssh-uk.org #MedSky
A deep blue banner reads "Long Covid Support Groups for Healthcare Workers." Large serif text in navy and gold says "As a healthcare worker you don't have to face Long COVID alone." Details below: 1st October 2026, 7:00 pm. "We'll explore regulating strategies for busy healthcare workers with Long COVID." A gold label names Sheren Gaulbert as Guest Speaker. THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT
LONG COVID IS TO AVOID COVID
Wear the best mask you can Wearing a good mask like an N95 or better when in public will give you the best protection
Stay home and isolate if ill If you feel unwell isolate yourself from others until you are feeling better and testing negative
Test if you have symptoms Symptoms of Covid? Isolate and test. Repeat test while symptomatic and mask around others
Ventilate or meet outside Clean air is the best way to prevent spreading and catching Covid so make sure fresh air is circulating
Long Covid still has no cure There is no cure for Long Covid so the best way to avoid it is to take steps to avoid catching Covid

Covid is a mass disabling event. Just because you had it and were “fine” doesn’t mean there isn’t silent damage in your body. Multiple infections increase the risk of long covid … you never know which one could leave you disabled. This is why we mask. Why we clean the air.

A message I sent my friend in December 2020 saying: same and also had two old doctors who were weird. One saying my chest pain was because of my big boobs and the other telling me it’s bc I drank coffee and energy drinks and I kept telling him I didn’t but he wouldn’t listen.

UK: Darren Parkinson, a 50-year-old former NHS nurse from Bradford, urged the PM for long Covid support after contracting the virus in 2021. The devastating after-effects left him struggling to leave home, costing him his jobs. The condition affects about 2 million people in the UK and has no cure.
A screenshot of a BBC News article titled "I'm exhausted just being alive, says long Covid sufferer." The byline credits Michael Broomhead, Local Democracy Reporter, and notes it was published 18 hours ago.
The main photograph shows a middle-aged man with short grey hair and a light beard sitting outdoors against a light-coloured brick wall. He is looking directly at the camera with a serious expression, wearing a black zip-up hoodie over a graphic t-shirt. The image caption below states: "Darren Parkinson has suffered with the condition for five years."
