YES: SF should take at least one of its underused golf courses and turn it into a mix of housing and parkland San Francisco doesn’t need this many golf courses sfstandard.com/2026/09/13/s...
sfstandard.com
San Francisco’s golf courses are draining millions — and barely anyone plays on them
The city loses $4.9 million a year subsidizing six sprawling golf courses used by a shrinking number of players. In a housing-starved city, that’s a tough sell.

Man, after a week in Toronto seeing first-hand how they are surrounding transit stops *deep* out in the suburbs with 40-story towers (and frequent regional rail) I am so damn radicalized. Yes do it for environmental & housing cost reasons, but honestly it’s just nicer and feels so much more modern

The California Air Resources Board just gave Big Oil a $4,000,000,000 handout — and they’re defunding our buses + affordable housing to pay for it. There’s no justice for poisoning + selling us out, but I do wish these guys an eternity in hell. And remember, Chevron’s voting Becerra for Governor!

I see this this all the time and it's the most tired talking point about speed cameras. We have data showing they change behavior, leading to less speeding and fewer fines. It's also worth noting how cops have basically given up on traffic enforcement (fewer cop interactions is also a positive).
Yea, no. If you're not doing on-site enforcement it's a cash grab first.

The 3 US transit agencies with the MOST ridership growth are also the 3 agencies facing the BIGGEST service cuts due to a lack of state funding. Public transit is a great investment. Sustainable funding = better service for a growing number of riders!

Love seeing Muni and BART with the highest rail ridership growth in the US. If we pass @connectbayarea.bsky.social measure, ridership growth will continue. If we don’t, service will be slashed and ridership will plummet - Bay Area way of life and economy will crumble. We must pass this measure!

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this: America's problems are solved problems. Just not here. What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵
Screenshot of a data visualization titled “The Cost of American Exceptionalism,” subtitled “What would change if the U.S. matched the OECD average?” The page explains that each card shows how outcomes would change if the U.S. matched the average of 31 peer democracies. Below, a section labeled “Economy & Inequality” displays eight cards comparing U.S. figures to OECD averages. Highlights include: +$19K per household per year in redistributed income and +$96K in redistributed wealth if the top 1% matched OECD shares; a 71% lower CEO-to-worker pay ratio (from 354× to 101×); 50 million more workers with union coverage; 26 million more people with health insurance; $2.1 trillion saved annually in healthcare spending; $691 less per person per year in prescription drug costs; and intergenerational economic mobility being twice as high. Each card shows the U.S. value alongside the OECD average.

Amazing results in New York remind me how disappointing it is that congestion pricing efforts have stalled in San Francisco. With congestion pricing, Muni service could be robustly funded, transit ridership would climb, and traffic through much of the Bay Area would significantly decrease.
