I’m hooking someone can enlighten me on how this doesn’t end up rolling over easily on turns? The rear wheels just appear to be too narrow. Need something low slung, wheels mounted at the lowest center of gravity, and a handbrake to do some awesome skids. I miss my Big Wheel.

I’m running for City Council to get back to the basics:  • Pave our roads • Safe infrastructure • Tackle the deferred maintenance backlog • Deliver safety upgrades for everyone  Decades of neglect left us with a $250M+ pavement backlog. Let’s build safe, smooth streets across Berkeley! 🚴 🚦 🚗

Between this and his signing of the bill to help stop a bike lane in LA, he’s not a serious person that wants to protect people. What could possibly be wrong with making sure doctors can safely provide care for their patients without fear of retribution?

Do Shimano batteries have a well known charging problem? My around 1 year old battery that I’ve treated nicely, now has the charger blinking orange that it can’t charge. Based on interpreting their blinky light language, it’s a failure for the charger to “connect”. Maybe a bad charger?

It’s wild to me that two authors of books on sustainability that I own have now come out against this particular bike lane. (The other is Paul Johnson, owner of Monterey Fish and author of _Fish Forever_.)
A classic Pogo poster reading, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” It shows Pogo in front of pollution and littering between two large trees. He looks sad to see it. The poster was made for Earth Day 1971.

Reprint of original Pogo poster created for Earth Day, 4/22/1971. Notation at bottom of print: Print copyright 1980 The Walt Kelly Estate. This is a great thread. Not because of the car tech, but because of the highly educational responses about distracted driving. It’s always intrigued me, cars vs. planes, if you want to stick a new thing in a plane, it requires going through huge reviews and tests. Cars, nothing.

The @ridealso.bsky.social company continues to market their device as a Class 3 ebike w a top speed of 28 mph, but this is inaccurate for CA. There’s no mechanical connection btwn the pedals & drive train, so the motor always exclusively propels the device. It is legally not a Class 1 or Class 3.
“Speed and throttle: Pedal assist up to 28 mph; thumb throttle boosts up to 20 mph for quick acceleration off the line.”“312.5. (a) An "electric bicycle" is a bicycle equipped with fully operable pedals and an electric motor that does not exceed 750 watts of power.
(1) A "class 1 electric bicycle," or "low-speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle," is a bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, that is not capable of exclusively propelling the bicycle, except as provided in paragraph (4), that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour, and that is not capable of providing assistance to reach speeds greater than 20 miles per hour.
(2) A "class 2 electric bicycle," or "low-speed throttle-assisted electric bicycle," is a bicycle equipped with a motor that may be used exclusively to propel the bicycle, and that is not capable of providing assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour.
(3) A "class 3 electric bicycle," or "speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle," is a bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, that is not capable of exclusively propelling the bicycle, except as provided in paragraph (4), and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 28 miles per hour, and equipped with a speedometer.
(4) A class 1 or class 3 electric bicycle may have start assistance or a walk mode that propels the electric bicycle on motor power alone, up to a maximum speed of 3.7 miles per hour.”
