Finished Penguin Colony. It's not as smooth as Umurangi, but has amazing vibes and a twist on Lovecraft that is worth experiencing. Also, lots of secrets left to uncover! But before any talk about the gameplay & story, I just want to share this screenshot. Kudos to @veselekov.bsky.social & the team

A black screen with yellow text reads "The cowardice of the Games Industry during the ongoing genocide of Palestine by Israel will be recorded by the art it makes."

if they do reply with simple flailing as they attempt to regain the position they attempted to have before, you can either leave it be and let them stew in it, or give them a simple "mad because you'll be left behind lol" and then disengage

i often see a certain type of deeply incensed person in the comments of videos where someone will say aotearoa instead of new zealand, who say "it's called NEW ZEALAND" or some variation thereof. i found the trick is to simply respond "you will be left behind" and nothing else

given how easy it is to accidentally say "armpit" instead of "cake" in te reo, i tend to prefer kēki over keke (with kēkē being the word for armpit). on the other hand, they are sometimes overlapping concepts to me so who can say which is best

"everything is fine, actually"

A penguin stands in the snow in front of a man with his arms upraised. His eyes are bleeding. A fire burns beside the penguin, the final vestiges of a tent that was engulfed in flames.

Penguin Colony out, now go get it, it has cute chubby little penguins sliding on their bellies, and The Horrors™ store.steampowered.com/app/3695930/... a game by @origamedigital.bsky.social presented by @fellowtraveller.games

Penguins stand in the foreground while a massive, cloud reaching vaguely humanoid figure with tendrils, vaguely in the shape of The Thing's poster, stand behinds them, the background has a blended in image of the LZ 129 Hindenburg zeppelin exploding.

it seems to shock the New Zealand government that Peter Jackson, Taika Waititi, and the Conchords etc all emerged from the same city in the same span, which coincidentally is when Wellington rent was dirt-cheap and there were heaps of empty industrial buildings around

I trust the Greens to do this in a non-sucky way. However my kneejerk reaction to jobs-for-youth schemes is concern about young people, particularly disabled and neurodivergent young people, being pushed into jobs that they aren’t suited to or that don’t utilise their skills/qualifications.
