Maybe it's just me but this doesn't feel like it is a big enough story. Even a few years ago, this would have garnered an entire day's coverage on cable news.

If you oppose the death penalty this is bad. If you support the death penalty this is bad. There’s no world where actually it’s good and we should have beaten Hegseth to the punch. That’s stupid. Don’t think so hard you start to think stupid things sound smart.

I’ve seen several friends by this point wrap themselves around to a “actually public live-streaming of executions is good” position from the left and like, man, I promise you, you don’t need to overthink this so much. It’s plain and simple barbarism and it’s bad.

Chess meets Balatro in Gambonaza. I'm terrible at real chess. I have an understanding of how the pieces move (except the knight because fuck them) but I am terrible at the strategy. This is a lot more fun. I enjoy the randomness and the upgrades. 10/10.

I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Took 10 years but it won a total & complete victory through murder and atrocity.

I wish more pro-Palestinian activism had to do with Palestine. Like, you want to protest the Pratt and Whitney plant? Fine. They make the engines that power the jets that blow up chunks of Palestine. Clear line of causality. I get it. The fuck do people want Zohran to do, exactly?

Awesome
“We don’t want to turn into a banana republic where you lose an election and it’s all about retribution,” said Rep. Bill Foster (D-Ill.), a senior member of the Financial Services Committee. “A lot of the companies did things because Trump had a gun on their head. We’re going to have to be a little bit wise about when companies simply did something they had to do to survive this unprecedented level of corruption, compared to companies that actually got on board and profited more by being a partner in his corruption.”“I don’t look at the federal government to ever be used as a weapon,” said Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, a moderate Democrat and former Nevada attorney general who serves with Warren on Senate Banking.
“Our focus should be solving problems that we’re seeing happening,” she said, pointing to cost-of-living issues around health care, housing and energy. “That’s where our focus should be — not weaponizing the federal government.”Sen. Dick Durbin, a retiring Illinois Democrat who serves as the party’s leader on the Judiciary Committee, said in an interview that if companies have not violated the law, “then I wouldn’t give them any special attention.”
“If there’s a question of whether they violated the law — serious matter,” he said.
Asked about the ballroom contributions, Durbin said, “I don’t think that’s a crime. The courts may see it differently, but until someone proves to me otherwise, I don’t think that’s anything that should be investigated.”“If they engaged in corrupt activities in response to corrupt pressure from the Trump family, that’s one class of concerns,” the Illinois Democrat said. “If they simply had their arms twisted into making a contribution to one of President Trump’s vanity projects, that’s annoying but a lower level of concern.”

I think it's important to state this plainly. They tortured this woman, and not properly to death. She was stabbed until the metal needle itself bent, then injected with a caustic substance that entered the lacerated parts of those extremities where it pooled, dissolving and burning her flesh.
