Highly recommend both of these games! (though do be aware Seance of Blake Manor has a central mechanic that runs contrary to most games of this type, where you can actually lose if you pick the "wrong" things to investigate)

PSA: Gears of War E-Day is out *today.* Anybody with $100 can buy it and play it. It is simply not accurate to say it won't be released until October 6 - that's just the day it's available for $70, without a bunch of extra stuff bundled in. So very tired of this BS.

Ok this is maybe relevant to no one here but I have been long annoyed by Visual Studio putting "random" additional using lines at the top of my C# files and I finally tracked it down to this setting. Hallelujah!

There is no low too low for this partisan, lawless Supreme Court majority. Using the underhanded emergency docket to give Trump a power the Constitution does not allow, a fat thumb on the scale of elections. Disgraceful, six people who would be better on the Russian Supreme Court than in a democracy

Man, very disappointing to see a little strategy game I liked turn to using LLMs to do translations. I kind of get it, it's a one man show and plausibly there'd be no translations otherwise, but still... :(

I think the Iraq war (2003 ed) left people in the USA with a maladaptive idea of what terminating a war looks like. The USA can leave Hormuz when Iran allows it to leave, or it can suffer a strategic defeat unlike any in its history

If you're wondering why polls always have the GOP better on security it's because the media won't run "TRUMP SHIPS STEALTH TECH VIA UPS" but they would have stories and follows and entire expert panels discussing this shit for weeks if it was a Dem in office.

Writing code that compiles and nominally functions at first glance is the very first hurdle, literally the easiest thing that exists in software development. And we're supposed to take all human intervention out of the equation based on that alone? Are you fucking mad?

It only ever wants to do one thing: write a story about the little guy that it's been trained to write a story about. That guy says a bunch of things that look like the kind of things that someone trying to pursue the assigned goal would say. That is distinct from pursuing the goal.

And the regression here is also super tight... but it predicts a 2026 House popular vote of D +1. Either both of these predictions will be pretty wrong, or one will be very, very wrong. This illustrates how correlations in politics can fall apart, even if you have beautiful r-squared values.

In primaries this year, Democratic turnout utterly dwarfed Republican turnout. But does it mean anything for November? It turns out the answer is very much yes. A new analysis from @donnermaps.bsky.social suggests that Dems are on track for a 13-point blowout in the House vote. Here's why.

Rolled credits on Wolverine. There were some late game missions I enjoyed but the whole thing had some real pacing & repetition issues that Spider-Man (and Ratchet) avoided much better. There’s definitely an amazing X-Men game that could be made here as a sequel if they get a chance.

I could probably make just as much of an argument for Starflight, or Ultima IV, or some early Grigsby games, but this is the one that sticks out to me as the earliest.

cynical take - 1mil at 70USD is 70 mil. chop off 30% for platform fees, now we're 49mil. Assume the publisher is 100% recoup, that's 9 mil. Then the split after... let's be GENEROUS and say 50/50. Final income for 1mil sales is: * $4.5mil for studio * $44.5mil for pub * $21mil for platform holders

I love this so much. "Play the game exactly how you need to." I have often had to tap out of an action/RPG narrative game and read the rest of the plot online because I couldn't get past some of the encounters. So being able to experience the entire story in-game is always amazing.
From Remedy's page about Accessibility Settings in CONTROL Resonant.

The Intended Experience.

We talk a lot internally about designer intent. We do have a meticulously crafted, intended experience for CONTROL Resonant. It's balanced to be tense, demanding, and rewarding.

However, our philosophy is straightforward: if you run into a wall and the friction becomes too much, we would much rather you tweak the rules to overcome it than put the controller down and stop playing. Your time is valuable, and there’s no single right way to experience the game. Because of that, we absolutely do not gate any trophies or achievements behind these settings. Play the game exactly how you need to.

I’m a few hours in on Wolverine and it’s pretty fun! It’s maybe not as good as Spider Man just because that game is so insanely good, but this is delivering on exactly what I’d expect out of a very polished Wolverine cinematic action game.

I've read the battle.net store page for WoW Forever and have absolutely no idea what that game is. Graphics update for WoW classic? A survival crafting game with WoW paint? A WoW "do-over" MMO? Maybe I'm just dense but this seems like it has absolutely no clear positioning.
