Wren has plans, plural. Main plans, back up plans, contingency plans, plans for things that may never happen. And she still ends up winging it, because no plan survives contact with stupid people. It's more that having a plan eases her anxiety. #AwesomeCharacters #Wrencer #WritingPrompts

I managed to find rice in my Demon in a Bottle wip, about a demon trapper in a world where human industry runs on the power of bottled demons. Millie is planning her last foray into the hills before the stormy season hits. #WIPSnips #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts #DemonInABottle
Pavilion traffic ebbed and flowed with the tides of the day, but Millie paid it no mind. Shadows grew, stretching like grasping fingers across the ground as she split her attention between bites of flakey crust stuffed with spiced meat and columns of numbers scratched down in her battered notepad. She didn’t like the way things were stacking up. No matter how she shoved the digits around, Millie was staring at two weeks worth of rice and beans for every meal. It was that or dip into her meager Stormtide savings. As things currently stood, all she could afford was a bunk in a stormhouse. Sharing a tiny room with a handful of strangers for a ten week stretch was a special kind of torture.

Beans it is.

“Can I get your basket, Florita?”

“Hmm?” The tacaňo vendor’s dazzling smile pulled Millie out of her dark spiral, back into a world of light and color. He motioned to the empty wicker basket at her elbow. “Go ahead. You can take the tonic bottle, too.”

Still smiling, the young man bobbed his head and gathered Millie’s empties onto a tray with other castoffs. He’d clean everything and reuse it in a spirit of waste-not, want-not that Millie understood all too well.

“Better hustle if you’re wanting to gear up, Florita.” The vendor jerked his chin toward a shop window filled with empty bottles. Colored glass caught the slanting afternoon light and threw it back across the dusty boardwalk in a shimmering curtain of rainbows. “The bottle shop closes early on Tender-Day.”

“I can’t afford glass like that.” Millie’s words came out rough, edged with a decade of bitterness, but not even her sour attitude could dampen the young man’s spirits.

“Maybe someday, Florita.” He grinned and moved on to the next table.

My main villain, Magnus Var Krugan, is sort of a "shadow" archetype of Spencer. Someone with similar abilities and a desire to protect, but subverted to evil ends. Spencer accepts death as part of the natural order, where Var Krugan tries to dominate it. #LitHodgepodge #Wrencer #WritingPrompts

#Octember I mean, I feel like Spencer's business is already pretty haunted? Half his job is to find restless spirits and help them cross over. The other half is to conduct funerals and look after graveyards. Every now and again, he smacks down a necromancer. #Wrencer #WritingPrompts

Wren wants things cozy, but not TOO cozy. #LitHodgepodge #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts #Wrencer
“Let’s assume for a moment,” Spencer’s fingers traced her jaw, lifting her chin gently until Wren’s eyes met his, “That between the two of us, we can deal with the necromancer, and curses, and square your debts with the Blackboots. Then what?”

Wren opened her mouth, a flippant remark poised on the tip of her tongue, and then closed it again just as quickly. It had been fear mostly, fear of what she couldn't have, keeping her from truly considering what a life with Spencer could be like. Now that he was the frightened one, staring down at Wren with haunted but hopeful eyes, it was suddenly easy to slide a knife into fear’s guts and bury it like an inconvenient witness under the floorboards of her heart.

“It looks an awful lot like this,” she said softly, turning her head to kiss his palm. “Tea by the fire. Comfortable robes and dusty books. Occasional forays into ghost infested ruins.” And because Wren could be herself here, without at least a hint of sarcasm, she added “A minimum of one rooftop chase a month, just to keep things interesting.”

Spencer has gone through a hidden entrance in the Fain ruins and Wren was forced to stay behind. From book 2 of my romantic fantasy wip about a priest of the dead and a thief with a heart of gold. #WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingPrompts #WritingCommunity #Wrencer
Wren stood perfectly still, staring at the stones that had swallowed Spencer up. She didn’t throw herself at the wall and pound on it or grab the crowbar from her pack and try to lever it back open, even though her fingers itched to do just that. Fear swirled in her gut, offering up image after unsettling image. Spencer impaled in a pit of spikes, or crushed beneath a fallen stone, or simply laying on the ground, gasping for his next breath as the air slowly ran out.

None of that is going to happen and even if it does, it was still worth it, she told the fear. It didn’t believe her, so she thought of last night and tried to smother the feeling with memories of Spencer’s hands on her skin, his kiss on her lips, the velvet rumble of his voice saying he loved her. Worth it, she told the fear again and it finally receded, begrudgingly.

“You all right, then?” Molly asked conversationally, like they were talking about nothing more consequential than the weather or a broken bit of tack.

“I’m fine,” Wren lied smoothly. “I’ll scout around a bit, though, just in case.” The thought of standing still and just waiting was too much to bear. Molly gave her an understanding nod and stepped aside, making room for Wren to pass.

#SundaySnips Victor, a young man with some anxiety issues, saw a dead body today. It’s taking him a minute to get to sleep. But it’s all fine. Totally fine. Nothing weird is going to wake him up in the middle of the night…
That night, he lay in bed, trying not to think about what had happened, but not having yet learned that the more you tried not to think about something, the more it possessed your mind. It wasn’t until after his mother turned off the light in the hall that he thought to ask her to leave it on, but, at fourteen, knew he was too old to be afraid of the dark.
When he heard her close her bedroom door, he switched on the light from his phone on the bedside, but the bright and singular light distorted everything in his room. Once comforting toys cast eerie long shadows on the wall, growing into monsters that loomed over him. He flicked it off again. The thought of lighting a candle briefly crossed his mind, but he immediately dismissed it as the worst idea he’d had all day. He let his eyes adjust, nervous to close them. Slowly, sleep crept upon him, mercifully overtaking his anxiety.

Six towers lined the road, slits for archers keeping baleful watch over any approach. Ragheiyont took a cautious step forward. No arrows flew down from above. All remained eerily still. He stepped lightly, but he need not have bothered. The city felt as dead as dry bone. #sundaysnips

#SundaySnips | eerie Fire in the Sky, so 'ware spoilers at the link, and Mortimer and Archer are sneaking into a Sinnlenst safehouse ( saranadosfiction.com/2025/09/13/f... )
“I don’t need you to tell me how to run an infiltration.”

“Then try to-” the older man began, before cutting himself off with a visible effort. “My apologies. This isn’t the damn time, and you’re even more worried for him than I am.”

No need to ask which ‘him’ he meant. *And the two of them have been friends for longer than I’ve been alive.* Didn’t make him feel all that much bloody better about the situation, but remembering that he wasn’t the only one worrying for his father’s health was… helpful, in a strange kind of way.

Past the front door, the hallway was surprisingly well-lit and even more surprisingly quiet, the gaslamps flickering in the eerie silence. The guards had hung their outdoor coats up on the wall, and Mortimer was surprised despite himself to see Archer take a moment to rifle expertly through their pockets, fingers flicking through scraps of paper and twists of packaging twine with practised ease.

“I was a spy, if you recall,” he said quietly, in answer to Mortimer’s unasked question. “Some habits die harder than others, and this one might well net us something we can work with.”

It was a reasonable enough answer, even if he still chafed at the delay – who knew what could be happening while the two of them were waiting out here? – but even the least competent of the Sinnlenst knew better than to leave anything compromising in a garment that wasn’t currently on them.

*Or, at least, they should do. The gods know I yelled at enough of Tyburn’s lot about it back when I was trying to prove my loyalty, and they seemed to have taken it onboard.*

*Could wish they hadn’t, now, though I doubt any of* this *lot are from that faction.*

#SundaySnips - Eerie Here's an eerie moment from The Bird and the Blade!
Then, in a moment that caused chills to spread across Callum’s entire body in a violent wave, everything went wrong. The birdsong died. The hair on the back of Callum’s neck and his arms lifted. Silently, he nocked an arrow and whistled, low and steady.
Judyth turned around, eyes wide. She motioned Wilder to keep talking. Wilder stumbled on a word as she drew two daggers and nodded to Callum. Wilder’s hands lifted to rest on the pommels of his short swords.
Judyth mouthed, What’s wrong?
Callum looked up, then back to her. He gestured to his ear. Where are the birds? he mouthed back.

#SundaySnips Eerie! from A Mirror with an Edge, The Tipping World vol 4
Wind howled through the narrow gorge as if it harbored lost souls. Sparud shivered, wrapping his arms around himself while he wished the spooky idea hadn’t occurred to him. It was that awful thing in the cave behind him, reeking of despair, cruelty its provenance. He felt as if he could taste its contamination even through the walls of the lead box housing it.
He kept watch in the mouth of this cave, half-hidden behind a rock. They had found the place in the foothills of the Sogran Mountains around dawn. Liyra slept; their flight had been an ordeal for her. The blade that cut her had gone so deep through the thickest muscle in her thigh that it had nicked the bone, and his first attempt at stitches must have felt like being injured all over again, except more slowly.
There was no one to spell him while he rested: he had no choice but to stay awake. The shadows seemed to writhe as if that ghostly wind were blowing them. He blinked his pumice-grainy eyes, but it didn’t clear his vision. It would have been an eerie night had they been indoors, and after what they witnessed yesterday, he wasn’t sure he would ever get past the point where he felt like he was fighting to hold a moan inside.

from the start of the last chapter #SundaySnips #WritingCommunity #Writingprompts #Writesky #HQpress
The empty streets of Corozol felt haunted and eerie. Unlike the busy daily lives of the people in every other major city, this city was desolate and vacant. There were people around if one was paying attention. Most were hidden and carefully watched the group as they walked unimpeded through the streets. Any door or window that may have been open as they approached was quickly slammed shut as they passed by.

Subbing "creepy" for eerie - talking Halloween costumes! From the first draft of the Brayden spinoff.
The cool air is refreshing. I push my long hair out of my face, but it falls back into its usual pace as I walk. Music pours from at least one party on every block, with dressed us people passing me by. In the dark, I can’t tell what most of the costumes are except for the obvious classics like superheroes or creepy clowns.

#SundaySnips I have it in my android WIP. Andrew stays alone on the spaceship whilst the passengers and crew go to hyper sleep, including the captain.
He looked down at him, at peace, sleeping with an arm around Atlas, and his hand on his chest. Breathing. The biometrics perfect, deep sleep, slowing metabolism and time. That soft weight on his chest as his eyes grazed his face, his body, his hand… Somehow, Andrew was missing him when he hadn’t been particularly nice… somehow, it was hard to leave the pod bay, close the door. His steps echoing in that eerie silence on those semi dark corridors. The stars now, more visible than ever, blurred as the ship was speeding towards its next destination.

#SundaySnips - Not sure if this is the only time I used eerie, but it's the only time I remember using it. A couple of hours ago, Carver joined Tank, Wolf, and others to rescue his drugged ex from a scary situation. They've just finished cataloguing his injuries and getting their story straight.
If there was any comeback from this, the three of us would take the rap. I would take anything coming to me, and as much as I could on behalf of Tank and Wolf, because Ash was safe and alive instead of decomposing among those eerie trees.

‘I’m going to get him to drink some water.’

‘Little bits at a time. Not too much. He’ll throw it up.’ Wolf made a good point.

‘Got it.’

Over the next hour, I got an entire glass of water into him, a couple of sips at a time. He tried to smile every time I told him he was a good boy, and he was gradually getting more coherent. Still confused, but more with it.

He was as settled as he was getting for the state he was in. He wouldn’t want me there once he was fully back in the room mentally, and he would mostly sleep until then. The only place I wanted to be was where I could see him. But it was time to tear myself away before he remembered he didn’t talk to me anymore.

When Tank checked in to see how we were doing, I took that as my cue.

‘I’m going to pee, then I think I should head home.’

‘Carver! Carver, don’t leave me.’

I’d have had to be totally heartless to ignore that level of distress.

‘Or maybe not. Looks like I’m staying. Ash, I still have to pee. I’ll be two minutes.’

‘Don’t leave me.’

‘I’m coming straight back.’

‘Promise.’

‘I promise.’

‘Promise nicer.’

The voice of my sweet demanding brat. I crouched down beside him and waited for him to attempt to focus on me. It still looked like he was trying to figure out which one to look at.

‘Sweetheart, I promise I’ll come straight back. I’m going to pee and get us both some more water and I’ll be right back.’

‘Kay.’

The urge to kiss him on the forehead and tell him how much I loved him, was like a knife in my gut. I used the bathroom time to pull myself together and promise my brain I would process later.

#SundaySnips Oct 4: The only use of the word itself in the manuscript is, as it happens, not a particularly eerie moment, so you're getting this instead.
In the center of the grove was a large, smooth stone. Oval in shape, it was about about as long as Rhiann was tall, its color a deep lapis blue. The whole surface bore carvings: patterns of lines and whorls, hundreds of them, tangled up in each other. Runework, but certainly not Toviran, and even more alien than those in the cavern beneath Aylesburh. The shapes were a briar thicket, thorny and tangled. They pierced each other from one shape to the next and almost seemed to move, slipping and slithering like living things. Her rune-scars itched and her instincts were screaming—the same way they had when she set eyes on Tashain of Alencia.
Rhiann didn’t realize that the sight of the odd stone had caused her to physically recoil until Lycus bumped into the back of her. She flinched and was about to snap at him, but he was so intently focused on the stone that she held her tongue.
“Those—” Lycus said, his tone sepulchral. “I recognize those runes.”

#SundaySnips - EERIE I have one (1) use of this word in my WIPs. I'm surprised I had any. Stella's POV. I guess this could be considered kind of a spoiler, since it's near the end of the book, but honestly, all snippets are kind of spoilers. Dead dove, do not eat.
A text-heavy graphic with a yellow background featuring the title UNBEARABLE HUXLEY RONAN. There are illustrations of two characters, a large man in a suit and a petite woman in a skirt, on each side of the text box. The text includes the follow snippet:

“Well…” I stare down at my bathroom counter, unsure whether to be pleased or terrified. Either way, an eerie calm has settled over me, now that I have an answer for why I’ve been feeling so tired and out of sorts the past couple of weeks. A reason besides my own heartbreak.
Shay is rocking violently in my arms, trying to reach for the fun new toy I’ve left on the counter, sorely out of range of his grabby little hands.
“Shay, honey, settle down. That’s not for you.” I try to distract him with some bouncing, but he starts wailing because Mommy is evil and won’t let him have the Thing. He kicks out one of his legs when I turn to leave the bathroom, sending the object in question flying off the counter and skidding across the hall, almost all the way to my bedroom. “You sure taught it a lesson, huh?”

#SundaySnips tam just slightly misinterpreting the situation as usual (repost due to typo teehee)
"Tam’s perfume is great,” Isabella said, eyes pinned to the screen. “He’s stingy about it, though.”
“It’s cologne,” I said through gritted teeth. “Why don’t you just buy your own, miss trust fund? Not like you can’t afford it.”
She gave me the finger, still talking to Noah. “He smells like a sexy campfire. Seriously.”
Noah leaned in close to breathe her in, and—swear to fucking god—made eye contact with me when he did it. Their shoulders pressed together. His lips parted.
“Hm. Yeah,” he said, eerie-ass shark eyes ghosting away. “Hickory. Very sexy.”
The words BACK OFF!! shrieked through my head. He was doing it on purpose. Ohhhhh the fucker was doing it on purpose. I was about to grind the fucking enamel off my teeth. Isabella didn’t notice, of course, because she was too busy shooting ghouls and staring at Leon Kennedy’s ass.

Unsurprisingly, Wren finds herself in a bit of a predicament. From book 2 of my romantic fantasy series about a priest of the dead and a thief with a heart of gold. #SundaySnips #Wrencer #WritingPrompts #Writesky
“That could have gone better,” Wren mumbled to herself. She wiggled her wrists, testing the leather cuffs that held her strapped against a broad length of wood. It was tipped over at an angle and left her not exactly standing but not lying down either. A strap across her neck kept her from bending at the waist to worry at the buckles with her teeth. It was probably meant to go across her chest, but it seemed Wren was shorter than the Magnus’s usual victims.

The look on Var Krugan’s face when I stabbed his necromancer wife in the throat with her own steak knife, though… Wren smiled a little, savoring the memory. All the color had drained out of him, his eyes bulging in the sockets. A little vein had even throbbed in his temple.

Worth it.

For a moment, Wren had been convinced the Magnus was going to kill her outright, grand plans be damned. He’d teetered briefly on the edge of violence and then he’d wrestled that cold mask back into place. Annika had pulled the knife out of her neck and stabbed it dramatically into the table. Eerie how little blood there was. I got her right in the artery, should’ve been a great big fountain of it.

#SundaySnips Going to cheat and post 2 with 'unnerving'. One is a short one that fits the vibe. The other is much longer & different vibe, but I love this moment! It's unrevised rough draft from further in the story, but...🥰 Both are from Felcrown, the story of the megadungeon that became a city.
Screenshot of a work-in-progress manuscript with the word 'unnerving' highlighted.

Luzz was thankful he had encountered very few guard patrols, but the silence of the domains he passed through was unnerving. More than once he caught nervous eyes peering out at him from behind shuttered windows.Screenshot of a work-in-progress manuscript with the word 'unnerving' highlighted.

“Dee, you should look up,” Pyntal said.
“No, I’m fine, Pin. I just wanted you to enjoy this.” She remained on her hands and knees, facing the ground. “Once when I was little, I took a school trip to the surface. I looked up then and not only was it so bright that it hurt my eyes, but there was no ceiling in sight. Just endless nothing above me. I felt like I was going to fall into the sky!”
Pyntal giggled. With one hand, she laced her fingers through Digs’s and with the other hugged her lover’s arm. “First off, it’s night time, so obviously it’s not as bright. Secondly, I’ll hold onto you and won’t let go, I promise. Trust me.”
Digs looked at Pyntal’s sweet smile. In battle, she never hesitated to trust her life to this wonderful woman she loved. She could trust her with this.
She nervously turned, struggling to hold her eyes open. She knew the science involved and how ridiculous her reaction was, but the experience at such a young age had been deeply unnerving. Digs felt her heart race and she gripped Pyntal’s hand far harder than she intended.
Looking up over her shoulder, she saw the dark silhouettes of trees and then—her breath caught, she fell over onto her back, mouth wide in astonishment. It was unlike anything Digs had ever seen in her life, whether awake or dreaming.
Pyntal hugged her arm tighter and snuggled onto Digs’s chest. “Do you like them? Those are stars. You can even see tip of the planet’s rings peaking out over those trees.”

The #SundaySnips Word of the Week is 'eerie' - ironically, I've only used this word 3 times in my paranormal thriller lmao. Katie begins to realize that perhaps mischaracterization is a symptom of her best friend's minorly delusional worldview. Innocuous as it may seem, it is a clue.
The Sunday Snips word of the week is 'eerie' - the following is an excerpt from my novel WIP 'The Canary' featuring the word of the week - However, the longer I read the more my face fell. It was true that we shared a deep bond over our adoration of tragic lovers. The story she titled 'in aeternum implicatus' was a nod to her passion for Latin and Roman history but it was something deeper, too. The tale was eerie and familiar, a deeply emotional extension to the myth of Romulus and Remus. I saw that we'd studied the same mythos, but she'd seen a very different ending.

In Bekah's story, Romulus was a deeply flawed young man who had an unhealthy and entangled vision of his future and his brother's true motives. He saw his wolf mother's kindness as selective and his river father's mercy as neglect. The anguish he felt taking Remus's life was the cost of his boundless lust for power. Still, this version of Romulus could not bear his shame. The reality of his crimes was a sobering curse. Actualization was in his very grasp, his destiny sealed, but the one person he wanted to celebrate with the most lied dead in his hands, by his hands.

‘Somehow I got that feeling,’ I said with a laugh.
Mrs. Requiem wasn’t laughing. Her eyes met mine, and every nerve in my body screamed for me to flee. Fear flooded my nervous system, yet I was paralyzed. She looked no different from before, she was even still smiling! But something changed. Something I couldn’t see with my eyes but could feel on a primal level. Something left over in my brain from the primeval days of sharpened sticks and stones howled that, despite her human appearance, Mrs. Requiem was a being far more dangerous than anything I’d ever encountered.

It was eerie, like peering into a moment frozen in time. [Censored] had been there, and I could almost feel her presence. I knew to check in the bedrooms for the picture, so I walked over and opened one of the doors.

My eyes were immediately drawn to [Censored]’s corpse, slumped in the middle of the room, covered in blood. I saw it for only a brief moment, a blink and it was gone.

That… That wasn’t real, right?

My breath quickened and I grabbed at my head, as a subtle scent of blood emanated from the room. I frantically reached out and grabbed the door handle, slamming it shut before the smell could drown my thoughts.

“Woah, hey what’s wrong?” Nathan whispered.

“Not that room.” I focused on catching my breath. “I… Sorry, I thought I saw something…”

#SundaySnips "Eerie" There's always a gap if you look for it
Men dressed in sharply angular black uniforms were moving out from between the towers, converging on them from all sides. They had an almost eerie purposefulness to them, movements aligned so perfectly it was like watching a dance, save for the bit at the end where they aimed their guns directly at Slip and Alison.
“They can’t kill you,” Alison muttered, half to herself. “They can’t shoot you, Slip! Just run for it!” And Slip did.
It would have seemed to an observer that there was no way past the surrounding phalanx, so tightly grouped and highly trained. Slip, though, knew a thousand tricks to get past someone who was in her way. Locked doors and walls could keep you in no problem, but people were a much simpler proposition, especially if you were small and could fit through gaps easily. They always left those and she could always spot where they were.
Better yet, the soldiers, so confident in their snare, simply didn’t process the reality of her whisping past them until a few seconds after it had happened, by which time it was too late. She aimed for an alleyway nearby. Every world had those and she knew them well. The soldiers’ spic and span appearance told her they never went beyond the prettier parts of this world. She could lose them there.

#SundaySnips "eerie" from A Prayer for the Pirate Queen 🏴‍☠️ 💜 ⚓️ currently in third draft revisions
The nereid visitors, standing at the very edges of the ceremony, added their eerie voices in a final send off, singing a wordless dirge of their people as the winding sheets vanished under the darkening grey of the waves, and the last rays of the sun bled away from the horizon.

#SundaySnips here we have a paragraph from DIRGE OF THE BETRAYED, ANGEL OF WRATH book 2, which I’m focusing on writing this month. #SpookySeason #WriteSky #October #WritingCommunity JOIN THE FUN!
Snippet from Dirge of the Betrayed, Chapter Four.

"Your eyes are glowing," he whispered as if he were in a trance. I flipped down the visor and cursed. My eyes were indeed glowing with the fire of my Angeliki. What the hell was this? I blinked, and they were mortal green again. He shuddered and started the car. “That's ominously eerie."

Hi guys, being serious for a moment (sorry if this is out of line, Flygohr). Costs are becoming abysmal for everyone and so this is a tall ask, but if you HAVE the means in your budget, consider getting an art commission from Flygohr. We will continue to lose artists if they can't get work now.

It was not Spencer or Wren's idea, for sure. It is probably happening because of some church related social obligation they can't get out of. Wren is doing behind the scenes organizing, the Aunties are cooking, Spencer is socializing under duress while... #AwesomeCharacters #Wrencer #WritingPrompts

Alt: Brent Spiner's 'They Don't Let Us Out Much' Scene from the movie Independence Day. He is dressed as a dorky scientist in a lab coat with long gray hair and glasses. He tells an FBI agent they don't let them out much and chuckles awkwardly.

No petals in book 2, so here is a snip from book 1. Mother Borrallo visits Spencer with a warning. From Thief of Death, a romantic fantasy about a priest of the dead and a thief with a heart of gold. #WIPSnips #WriteSky #WritingPrompts #WritingCommunity #Wrencer
“I came alone for a reason.” The words came as a murmur, so hushed that he had to bend nearer to hear them. “I believe you may have stumbled into something more complicated than a cursed amulet, Brother.”
“How so?” Spencer asked, his own voice an echo of Mother Borrallo’s whisper.
Not willing, or perhaps not yet ready to answer, the priestess turned away and walked to the nearest pew. Mother Borrallo sank onto the polished wood, layers settling around her like the unfurling petals of some midnight flower. Her fingers strayed absently towards the looping silver symbol of the Gray Lady, where it sat draped around the elderly woman’s neck, half smothered by silk and lace.
Spencer sat beside her, neither too close nor too far. Waiting.
“I have learned to accept that I will encounter a certain amount of cruelty in the course of my duties.” Mother Borrallo's voice regained some of its usual steel. “In a city this size, not every death will be the peaceful easement from one state to the next that we might hope for. Even so, what I have witnessed in recent hours stands apart.”
Dread coiled in Spencer’s guts. He didn’t care to imagine the sort of grisly death that could put a woman with Mother Borrallo’s long years of experience off her stride.
“Last night, three bodies were delivered to our care. All were brought in well after midnight. Two victims had organs missing, and the third was fully exsanguinated.”
Spencer’s mouth opened, a dozen different questions dancing on the tip of his tongue, but a sharp sweep of the priestess’s hand forestalled him.
“No, my dear boy.” The veil swished softly as Mother Borrallo shook her head. “It was not some back-alley butcher looking to harvest parts. Vermin that they are, the flesh rippers work methodically and with precision. The components they seek are too valuable to damage. This was poorly done— sloppy, and wasteful.”

My view while writing this morning... #Writesky #Writingcommunity
A photo of a dirt road in the country running alongside a river. There are pine trees everywhere and a the ground is covered in red pine needles. There is a gray car in the corner of the picture and a t-post fence running along the road. It is a peaceful scene. A photo of the same area from a different angle. There is a dirt road, a dry riverbed, and a forest of thick trees. Mostly pine trees with green needles, there is a blanket of orange and brown leaves and needles on the ground.

A digital drawing of an original character from the romantic fantasy novel Thief of Death by Samantha Breaux. Art is also by the author. The drawing is of a woman in fantasy garb with long brown hair in a braid over her shoulder and brown eyes looking off to the side. Her skin is tan, she is wearing a black cowl, a white shirt, and a blue vest.

#PretendPanel I write for myself, first. It has to be characters I like, a story I enjoy, a place I can spend thousands of hours thinking about, otherwise I'll never finish it. When I revise and edit, I think more about how to make it appealing to others. #Writesky #WritingPrompts

We need all hands on deck over the next 32 days to defeat the fascists and reclaim the power of the pro-democracy majority. Anyone can help get out the vote in the states and districts that will decide the midterms: indivisible2026.org?utm_source=b...
(over an image of a map of the US that shows Indivisible’s nine Senate target states and 31 House target districts for the midterm elections) It’s time to win the midterms.

#Octember Spencer is on top because he's the most charming and affable person. Wren is the arms so she can still stab/shank someone. Bruce is the legs because he is the strongest/largest and will make a good base. #Wrencer #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

#Pretendpanel It's an integral part of who I am. Even if I didn't write the stories down, I'd still constantly be imagining characters and scenarios in my head. (that may be the ADHD, though) I just love it. I can't imagine my life without it. #WritingCommunity #Writers #Authors #WritingPrompts

Spencer and Wren work for Dracula. Spencer is trying to gentle parent the vampire into settling his unfinished business and moving on to the afterlife while he and Wren thwart Drac's plans behind his back, but make it LOOK like they are helping. #Octember #Wrencer #WritingPrompts

#LitHodgepodge 2 Wren, Spencer and Reggie would be a lot of fun in an episode of Supernatural. Spencer and Dean would definitely clash over how to properly get rid of ghosts and Wren and Sam would nerd fight over obscure lore. #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts #Wrencer

Because it's fun. Because it's the easiest way for me to share my story ideas and characters with others. Because if I don't, I start feeling restless and antsy. #PretendPanel
