Because of the success of the fundraiser - and the support of so many on here - we were also able to contribute to some unmanned vehicles that were donated. Heard today that these UGV's have already been involved in 16 life-saving rescues from the frontline. Thank you to everyone who donated.

Normally by this point I would be saying "Come on guys, these jokes aren't original, nor at this point are they particularly funny" - but no, I think I'll happily lap up jokes at Liz Truss' expense for a good while yet.

Another chance to remember that Theresa May’s social care plan in 2017 was actually quite fair and sensible - a safety net that required an element of contribution from those who could afford it on a timescale that didn’t wreak misery - and she lost her majority over it

there is no sensible reason why a 5 year spouse visa cost us a little over fourteen grand. none whatsoever. and that's before you break it down to the addition of renewals every 30 months, the health surcharge, the endless price hikes, the final kick in the teeth for ILR (three grand! to settle!)

This is the worst kind of cowardice, being willing to throw trans people under the bus to appease the hard right. I don't know how anyone can call themselves a liberal if they're willing to trade away the rights of a vulnerable minority on this basis.

It is incredibly important that political violence does not succeed. The far-right mob that shut down Portsmouth wanted this outcome. If the state wishes to avoid more of these actions, it needs to make sure this RNLI branch reopens *immediately*, or as close to that as humanly possible.

What on earth is happening?
This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.
