Pettyfogging smallminded judgementalist bullshit marketed as saving money when most of the time it costs more is so baked into the British psyche now. I don't care what people "deserve" i care what they need.

very tired of the late stage capitalism trend of adding Gacha mechanics and FOMO into shopping for basics "how much will rice cost this month?" who tf knows. maybe it will all come with glass contamination. maybe the algorithm will decide my rice should cost extra. better buy extra just in case!

When you have ADHD you learn pretty quickly that routines can't be maintained all the time. That sometimes you are going to drop the ball. I think the biggest coping mechanisms I have learned is not to punish myself for that but to get back to the routine.

If you’re still wearing a mask, thank you. Please know you’re not alone. Many of us still mask, test and isolate when sick. Being the lone masker can be difficult, but your long term health is worth it. As a high risk, immunocompromised person… I see and appreciate you.

AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP. Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down. "AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago. We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.

One thing I learned from Roe v Wade is that conservatives believe women were never supposed to have freedom and choices. Seeing us become punished by the environments of our own liberation feels satisfying to them. It's like they're herding us back into complacency with our own trauma.

Idk why but I've always loved when birds sit on the highest tips of tall trees & then sing. Beautiful! The crow was from the other day when it was very stormy (not sure if this was Sam or Frodo, they both like heights). The red shoulder hawk was this morning.
A crow stands on the top of a tall tree against a gloomy gray sky. There are also visible smudges on the window. I took the photo indoors A red shouldered hawk stands on the top of the tallest evergreen tree. Just below is a red maple turning bright orange

It has been 118 years since the Supreme Court ruled the federal government owes tribes water, but Native American communities in northern Arizona are still fighting for their rights to the Colorado River. (Published June)

Native American Tribes Came Together to Secure Their Rights to Colorado River Water. Four States Are Stalling the Deal.
Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming are resisting the deal because it would allow the Navajo and Hopi to lease water to cities downstream, likely the growing towns around Phoenix.

sent this blog post to my labour MP
email subject: Please read this.

email contents:

Hi Michael,
I would really appreciate it if you could read this blog post from a parent of a trans child in the UK who is having to move their entire family to another country because of extremely harmful transphobic rhetoric and policies. Policies your government has put and is putting in place, even as the new prime minister talks non stop about "hope".

I don't think I want a reply to this email, I don't think I can take another "dignity and respect" when people in my community including children (especially the children) are being treated so badly they are literally fleeing the country. I'm sure you've seen the statistics on how far the UK has fallen in terms of LGBTQ+ rights. Your party and government are the ones who could make life better for people like me, and people like the child in this post, but they are actively choosing to make things worse.

I hope you read this blog post and I hope it makes you feel something. It's made me feel something I've been trying to hold off for a very long time now: despair.

Don't enroll yourself or your parents in Medicare Advantage and this is why
At least one million US seniors will be forced to switch health plans next year as the largest Medicare Advantage providers cut benefits and discontinue some offerings in the wake of rising medical costs and heightened government scrutiny. About 390,000 people are part of UnitedHealth plans that are shutting down, a company spokesperson said. Humana has said that it will cut plans covering about 600,000 people. CVS Health’s Aetna and Centene are also shrinking their Medicare Advantage options.
