There was a bit of a rational for Hailey Stevens to use Piker to attack AES in the primary because he campaigned with him. Trying to apply that nationally for a general seems like a dud. Even in theory it doesn't seem like it would work at all.

(Oz veHadar, the giant Haredi publisher best known for its Talmud editions, actually started as a project doing exactly that - gemaros of the Kodashim masechtos with a second redone version straight from the best manuscripts - but that edition is hard to find now and they dropped that line)
