this also reminds me of their 2nd album being the most disappointed i've ever been in a followup album. like it was the most underwhelming thing i'd ever heard at the time. i think i heard later that they sorta wanted people to experience the whole thing as a whole, rather than as standalone songs

Hello,

I am very disappointed to see that Mr Talarico has accepted bad-faith Republican framing on the issue of trans kids in sports. Trans kids are neither a threat to safety nor fairness, of course, but accepting the Republican framing on this issue will result in losing support from trans people and their friends, families and allies while not convincing a single Republican to vote for you. It’s a losing issue all around, and shows both bad moral and political judgement on the part of the candidate and his team. As an example, Andy Beshear has won statewide office in a red state without throwing trans people under the bus either rhetorically or in legislation - having vetoed many anti-trans bills and still winning reelection.

I would really like to see Mr Talarico win, and have been deciding which candidates I will spend my political donation budget on this election season, and any candidate who helps Republicans strengthen their bad-faith, hateful messaging will not receive a single dollar from me or most of the people I know. I would highly encourage Mr Talarico and his campaign to actively counter that narrative by telling these creeps and their allies in the press to stop using vulnerable kids as a political football. If he wants to win, he will have to do so by showing he’s a man of values and character. These recent comments do not give me the impression that he is going to stand up for what’s right when push comes to shove.
