The Tory Party spent 15 yrs running down public services. They hollowed out every public service to the point of collapse, they profited enormously from the Covid pandemic, they went through Prime Ministers like a game of musical chairs. They're saying they will get it right next time.

I’ve worn a grubby RNLI cap for decades. I sound London, but I was born in Truro and I was a basically feral (Gen X) kid wandering the coast path with a dog until sunset for a lot of my early life. The lifeboats are in the fabric like trawlers and farms and pasties and fish and chips.

A lot of people seem to take it as a fact that the private sector has secret efficiency magic the public sector doesn't have. It doesn't. It pays workers less and charges more for the same service. That's like 99% of private sector "efficiency." And everyone's worse off, except shareholders.

Canada has a total ban on company/corporate donations. Only individuals who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents can make contributions and it's capped at $1,750 a year. They still have functioning parties and the sky hasn't fallen in. Quite the opposite... www.elections.ca/content.aspx...
