Two books on a table one is standard paper back. The other is a much, much larger book. It dwarfs the paper back.

No fact-free lunches
I would have expected Jonathan Ayling to seek facts before forming opinions.
His assertion that the strongest societies are not those where the Government does most is simply false.
All five Nordic countries are consistently in the top 10 in the world on the happiness scale, based on data from 140 countries.
Finland has been number one for seven years. All are among the highest taxed globally and all provide child benefits, parental leave, health services, hospitals and care for the sick and elderly, paid for by the Government.
Their emphasis is on the wellbeing of the entire population, with high levels of social support and generosity.
This evidence indicates that strong societies come from making sure everyone's needs are met, not just those who have the nous and the money, with others ending up homeless and hungry. Those are the facts, Mr Ayling.

A four-panel comic strip featuring a dog and his boss in an office setting. Panel 1: The boss, a man in a suit, says, "So given the demands of the position, we might have to go for an O-U-T-S-I-D-E hire." He has a mug labeled "WORLD'S GOOD-EST BOSS". Panel 2: The boss continues, "Which is why I need you to V-E-T these applicants," as he hands over some papers to the dog, who looks puzzled. Panel 3: The dog, wearing a shirt and tie, says, "Uhhh sorry I'm not following any of this." Panel 4: The boss sighs, "Look I can walk you through—" and the dog excitedly interrupts, shouting "WALK!!" while pointing a paw at the boss. The comic humorously plays on the dog's literal reaction to common words. The artist's signature is "THEEYESINKSONIC".

#NZpol Capturing this "for the record", esp. as I haven’t seen anything about it elsewhere. The National party fairly quickly deleted their post. On the face of it, deleting the post tacitly admits they made a false claim.
On X, Graeme Edgeler quotes a post by the official NZ National Party account, @NZNationalParty.

The text in the photo of the National Party post shows Nicola Willis looking up, with the words "WE'VE REDUCED GOVERNMENT DEBT BY $6 BILLION".

Graeme Edgler’s quoted post reads -

“I now have the explanation. This may legitimately be the most dishonest political ad I have ever seen in the wild.
Government debt is up.
Government debt is budgeted to continue to go up.
In zero sense has Government debt reduced.”

The National party fairly quickly deleted their post.
