This is a brilliant read, as always, from Adam. I am enjoying my first season as a cidermaker, mainly because i don't intend to sell any, so the pressure is very much off. 🍎🍏

Something special is brewing in The Union 👀 We’ve been joined by St Mars of the Desert to brew an exciting new collaboration beer, a rich, full-bodied Old Ale. It’s fermenting nicely before heading into cask and cans. 🍻

Had to press a cheeky gallon of allotment apples so I have something to top my batches when I rack them for maturation. But that makes 60 litres in total!

Well done, Dom. Yes, Artois Bock. Apparently, a once-popular beer that had been discontinued in the 50s. It didn't last long second time around.

This is a great book ideal for all brewers who fancy having a go at a weissbier. We've brewed one occasionally for years using WLP300 and German wheat malt. Lots of lovely new tips in the book. In this weather there's no better beer style! Well done @akrennmair.bsky.social 👏 🍻

The debate around kids in pubs rattles on endlessly but let me propose that there is a more pressing concern; Americans in pubs. A woman sincerely asked me "what's bigger a pint or a half?" earlier. Then her and her whole family ordered fish and chips and ate not a single mushed pea. A travesty.

A Monday morning giggle. Psst...the countdown is on. 5 days until Dawn Chorus Day. Comic: Jimmy Craig
This comic features four panels. In the first panel, a large bird sits on a branch, saying "spring is upon us." In the second panel, the bird, facing the viewer with a serious look, declares "we must let everyone know." The third panel reveals several small birds on a branch below, listening intently, as one of the little birds says, "but they're all asleep." The fourth panel shows the large bird's face up close, with its eyes narrowed determinedly, stating "then wake them." The artwork is simple with soft colours, and humorously refers to the loud dawn chorus heard during springtime

There's been a lot of great writing recently about the Burton Union. I wanted to write down (while I still remember) how the continuous wort manufacturing plant at the Horlicks factory used to work. Includes some terrible diagrams that probably make things less clear. #BskyBeer #Brewing

I Remember When All This Was Factory
The Horlicks factory in Slough, a historical site for continuous wort production, operated non-stop, converting malt into sugar without traditional brewing pauses. Its process, rooted in industrial engineering, influenced operations worldwide, including in India. Despite its closure, the factory's legacy of relentless production and innovation endures in modern practices.

Time to share our new logo After a decade of celebrating North East beer, we thought we should give things a bit of a refresh. Many thanks to Rob MacKay for being an awesome designer to work with!
The new Craft Beer Newcastle logo - a white minimalist logo on a Tyne Bridge green background.

The logo features a stylised depiction of the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle. Above the bridge arch, the words "CRAFT BEER" are written in Calvert typeface, and the word "NEWCASTLE" is centered directly below the arch in a straight line.

Flanking the bridge on both sides where the bridge piers would be are symmetrical icons of barley stalks.
