This part. Black people need to understandthat these people want a white man. They did this shit to Crockett. Many white progressives and liberals are splitting the party for whiteness.

Okay, this is obviously very stupid and dumb and an indication of the decline of American public discourse BUT... The fact that only 33% of Republicans think they could win a fist fight with a SEVENTY NINE YEAR OLD MAN is proof that these people are in a FUCKING CULT.

In accepting this guy's "faults," my main concern is that we're taking a party that has been a haven for, and powered by, women and minorities and turning it into a space where they are expected to provide energy and votes but relinquish the driver's seat to people who don't care about them.

The actual problem is 1) Democrats have popular policies but the country never hears about them due to right-wing propaganda; 2) Democrats constantly blame themselves and their base for this —a message right-wing media amplifies, making the problem even worse.

i think not unrelated to this is that the dems are steadily becoming the party of the professional-managerial class and are incredibly embarrassed about this. this of course mirrors the pmc itself, which instead of achieving class consciousness has achieved "class neuroticism"

saying 'Democrats need to talk like normal people' and 'not like we're in a college seminar' and so on & so on has ALSO become a thinly-veiled way of chastising Dem leadership for giving a fraction of a fuck about marginalized people so it raises suspicion, even if the real underlying point is good

You know what would be really fucking transformative in 2026? Electing statehouses in Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania that will join the Interstate Popular Vote Compact, and designate their EC to the outright winner of the popular vote. That’s a better use of resources than navel gazing at 2028

Higher ed is under authoritarian attack. Joining the fiction that all college is a sociology class you don’t like, and that Dem politicians are beholden to it, doesn’t help. Around 40% of Americans went to or are in college. No other group that big gets cast by so many national figures as abnormal.

Just went to vote in Ohio. This was a midterm primary and I stood in line to vote. Numbers in Ohio (Every primary really) will be a critical “tell” on how this midterm goes. If Dems turn out to vote in Dem primaries then that bodes well for the midterms in my opinion.

also, who controls the chamber is a ton more important than how one person votes. if fetterman swings the chamber to republicans, that means no hearings, no ability to stop judges, no ability to control the floor and force votes on reproductive rights (as just one example.)

The defense points to a "remarkable about-face" by the government, alleging the feds are "abandoning a high-profile indictment rather than submit to scrutiny its conduct before the grand jury":
D. “Dismissal” of Conspiracy Count
The Court’s subsequent directive to the government to bring it an unredacted “copy of any presentation(s) or document(s) shown to the grand jurors summarizing the law” suggests the redacted version the government had provided was missing certain material information or other matters of substantive concern. That raises an obvious question: if such a summary existed, why would the government withhold it, instead of producing it to the Court along with the transcripts?
This was no oversight as the government had ample time to consider its response and made a considered decision to withhold portions of the presentation—even from in camera, ex parte review by the Court. At the April 29 hearing, when the Court asked the government whether it would object to producing to the Defense the unredacted transcript and the exhibits presented to the grand jury, the government chose a more telling course. After six months of hard-fought, highly public litigation, including just-filed briefing on substantive and highly contested motions in limine—and less than a month before trial—it abruptly announced its decision to dismiss the indictment in order to “moot” the production of the grand jury materials, offering no explanation to the Court, the parties,or the public. The decision to abandon the case’s central and most serious allegation at this late stage speaks volumes.
Specifically, the following colloquy took place between the Court and the lead AUSA regarding this decision in court on April 29, 2026:
The Court: In terms of the grand jury transcripts, let me start by asking the government. Do you object to those being provided to the defendants?
MR. HOGAN: Your Honor, I think that we're going to find that that issue is moot. We're going to move to dismiss Count 1, and we are filing, as we speak, a superseding information on the remaining counts with the remaining four defendants.
THE COURT: Okay.
MR. HOGAN: So we have brought you, in compliance with your order, the unredacted versions; but since we are moving to dismiss Count 1 and their motion and your order were directed to that, I think that that issue should be moot.
Dkt. 142, at 3:25-4:9
This remarkable about-face, abandoning a high-profile indictment rather than submit to scrutiny its conduct before the grand jury comes at a time of mounting national distrust in the Department of Justice’s use of the grand jury process. The timing is likely no coincidence. In just the past few weeks, the government has secured indictments against a former FBI Director based on an Instagram photograph of seashells on a beach, and against a notable civil rights organization. These actions only underscore the growing concern that the grand jury is being wielded not as an instrument of justice, but as a tool of unchecked prosecutorial power meant to persecute any perceived enemies of the current White House. See United States v. Calandra, 414 U.S. 338, 343 (1974) (describing historic function of grand jury to include determining if probable cause exists and to protect “citizens against unfounded criminal prosecutions”).
