You think Black voters don't want Harris? Who you think they would prefer instead? I don't see anyone

Dave Weigel is doing revisionist history in real time.

And why does "Bernie mentioned it" better than Harris when she mentioned it? You said Harris only did it to quote, "check a box." What, and Bernie really meant it? You are saying he was credible, and Harris wasn't. Bullshit

Absolving Bernie here just proves how the framing you guys use is always off, it's always anti-Dem, extremely anti-woman. Bernie's rhetoric hurt Clinton in numerous ways. He tried to walk it back too late. But again, bias is obvious here.

Oh please. If voters don't get this by now they never will. How the hell can a Dem campaign get the word out when they have no media apparatus and you guys in the media only care about scandal?

And it will come back to haunt them when the next horror story about the guy drops. So it's mind boggling that they think embracing him now is good. Every candidate who does then has to answer for all of it.

Then they threw a tantrum when Crocket voters had some questions for Talarcio - "how DARE you ask him to address the issues!" Like wtaf, people. They'll support him, but they asked him to listen. The double standard is so huge at this point that it is laughable.

This part. Black people need to understandthat these people want a white man. They did this shit to Crockett. Many white progressives and liberals are splitting the party for whiteness.

Man all that “shoot your local pedophile” shit doesn’t seem to apply to Michael Jackson does it. They’re interviewing his nephew about the biopic on Regis and Kelly and I ain’t saying they gotta go hard on this kid about his uncles scandals but godddddddamn the MJ worship is nuts.

I wanted to talk to you today about vitamin K shots. Especially when it comes to new parents, there’s so much disinformation and misinformation going around. But this shot has proven to be safe and effective. It could save your baby’s life and spare you a lifetime of heartache.

McBride has done *heroic* work to secure trans rights. She's a genuine hero. Its maddening watching people attack her for it.

Of course. You've even won some, like Charles Booker in KY 6 years ago. Booker got destroyed in the general. I wish he had won, but this is my point about statewide races and the left's inability to prove that their brand of politics works everywhere.

Okay, this is obviously very stupid and dumb and an indication of the decline of American public discourse BUT... The fact that only 33% of Republicans think they could win a fist fight with a SEVENTY NINE YEAR OLD MAN is proof that these people are in a FUCKING CULT.

But if all you do is attack the Democratic Party while Black leaders are being targeted, Black voting rights are being dismantled, Black political power is under assault, and HBCUs are under attack, then don’t expect me to treat you any differently than I treat Trump and his MAGA acolytes.

The problem is party leaders are embracing him publicly, and we're already seeing articles about how we need more Platners. If he wins, that will quadruple - we'll be told we need to stop being "pure" about bigots and endorse a different kind of purity - white men get to say/do whatever they want.

In accepting this guy's "faults," my main concern is that we're taking a party that has been a haven for, and powered by, women and minorities and turning it into a space where they are expected to provide energy and votes but relinquish the driver's seat to people who don't care about them.

The actual problem is 1) Democrats have popular policies but the country never hears about them due to right-wing propaganda; 2) Democrats constantly blame themselves and their base for this —a message right-wing media amplifies, making the problem even worse.

Co-sign this. I like him. But I'm convinced he is never going to publicly grapple with what happened to the country in a substantive way. His approach failed, and is still failing, because voters went bonkers. His prescription for the future is...more calm neutrality. When we need Reconstruction.

Fair to listen, but also let's be real: Obama in 2008 faced a totally different media environment than Democrats face in 2026. I am not convinced he would've been elected in the current environment. If he did, it would've been quite narrow.

i think not unrelated to this is that the dems are steadily becoming the party of the professional-managerial class and are incredibly embarrassed about this. this of course mirrors the pmc itself, which instead of achieving class consciousness has achieved "class neuroticism"

Republicans say insane things constantly, make vile threats constantly, and lie constantly, and voters love it.The idea that Democrats will win over voters by sounding like regular guys feels pretty facile. And this is very much male coded, "we need to sound like regular dudes."

saying 'Democrats need to talk like normal people' and 'not like we're in a college seminar' and so on & so on has ALSO become a thinly-veiled way of chastising Dem leadership for giving a fraction of a fuck about marginalized people so it raises suspicion, even if the real underlying point is good

As a regular, normie Dem, I would be THRILLED to vote for AOC. Which seems to be a problem for some people on the far left - they don't want candidates who appeal to normie Dems.

Honestly though, the style hasn't had much success in statewide races. It's much easier to win mayor races and House districts. Until the left cracks the statewide code, color me skeptical they can win nationwide.

You know what would be really fucking transformative in 2026? Electing statehouses in Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania that will join the Interstate Popular Vote Compact, and designate their EC to the outright winner of the popular vote. That’s a better use of resources than navel gazing at 2028

It's a comforting thought that our political problems are simply a matter of rhetorical mismatch and not hoary, broken, anti-democratic institutions that will take a generation-long reconstruction project to fix.
