The problem is two-fold: committed fascists, and appeasers/enablers. The fascists can’t be deterred by credible threats of consequences, but some enablers can. The sort that takes the path of least resistance, defers to power, or acts out of fear might enable less if they worry about consequences.

The problem isn’t really the 2.6% inflation. The problem is that inflation is being driven by fuel and housing costs plus an AI bubble. The fiscal tools we have to deal with inflation assume wages are rising and the job market is good, but neither of those are true.

The problem is that health insurance companies are adopting AI too, and the risks are asymmetric; if their AI screws up and denies claims (as it's designed to), it's a plus and helps their business model. If my AI screws up and my claim doesn't get approved, I lose money.
