"I refuse to buy into the core conceit of this game and somehow that is the game's fault" is a complaint I see almost exclusively with RPGs and fighting games, which are not coincidentally the 2 mainstream genres that require the player to use their brain the most.

The cluelessness of this reminds me a lot of the NFT grift. The thing about NFTs was that it was mainly something finance bros were into, and when they were trying to worm their way into gaming, their pitches were an abyssal trench of bad ideas because they couldn't grasp why people played games.
